Hi all I need some advice. I am going to see the doctor about this, but not for another two weeks as it was the earliest appointment.

Yesterday I noticed that a very hard lump roughly just under the size of a 10p piece was coming up on my inner upper thigh (near my, ahem, lady parts Blush. It was a little sore and slightly red. I assumed it was a boil coming through. This morning the surrounding area was red too and lump was more painful. Lump is still under the skin, hasnt came through yet iyswim

Work was a nightmare, every time I walked or sat down it was agony. Im sitting here on my sofa and the front of my thigh is streaked with pain :( not even the part that seems to be red. Tummy and back pains too but this isnt worrying me too much because I am on my period and could just have period pains.

Im not sure if it is a boil anymore. Does anyone have experience of boils, particularly in this area? Are these typical symptoms?

Any answers are much appreciated :)

draw a line at where the redness ends (circle the boil) and go to a walk in center

this can be a staph infection. you need medical attention.

Hello move. This is right up my (ahem) alley. You might have an abcess starting. I am not a doctor but had one of these 15 years ago. Advice from me - do not wait! If it is you'll need antibiotics pronto. I waited and ended up with emergency surgery at midnight!

I am currently dealing with the aftermath which is not pretty. If you do end up with surgery please go back to your GP if you have any even mild recurrence as I didn't and regret it. See my post about being fed up with my bum on AIBU.

Get the medicine and stay vigilant. Good luck!

Ring NHS direct for advice.

Charlesroi · 15/11/2013 21:31

Call your doctor and if they won't see you go to A&E.

Sidge · 15/11/2013 21:34

Out of hours GP if the redness is spreading.

Do you feel hot, shivery, unwell? Might be a cyst, might be an abscess. Probably needs antibiotics.

prettybutclumpy · 15/11/2013 21:35

have you called nhs direct or your GP out of hours? Let us know how you go...
