Woolly and Tig, Balamory, Me Too, Bits and Bobs and now "keetee moooregg."

And only one scouser, and not a single northerner! What's going on?!

No midlanders. Never heard an "ey oop me duck" (not even from Sarah) or a "Bostin'".

Definately under-represented per head of population. Can't think of any N Irish either. (Although the Irish funded baby Jake clearly comes from a Catholic family Grin)

Per head of population, definitely more Scottish accented characters

Slatecross · 14/11/2013 07:09

MrsMook Bob the Builder is a Brum and Big City Park is Northern Irish.

Am still piqued there's no one from the northwest! Not a single Manc!

No YANBU. I've thought it for years and it does seem a bit OTT. Surely a little confusing for little English people learning to talk

Lol! Yes let's not confuse the poor English people ConfusedGrin

They all have northern accents on Harry and Toto, and the doctor is a scouser! Is that still on? We have the DVD. I love it.

Slatecross · 14/11/2013 07:28

There's all of Big City Park, captainbarnacles!

Captainbarnacles1101 · 14/11/2013 07:32

Slatecross. What is big city park? Where and when is it on?

PseudoBadger · 14/11/2013 07:43

Big City Park is absolutely shockingly bad.

PseudoBadger · 14/11/2013 07:44

There are some accents in Q Pootle 5 (on now) but I'm too tired to place them, apart from Stacey/Joanna Page being welsh.

Enidcoleslaw · 14/11/2013 07:51

They dubbed over the accents of all the little Glaswegian children in Waybuloo...

Captainbarnacles1101 · 14/11/2013 07:52

Is Big city park the hole in the wall gangs attempt At kids programmes??? They should stick to political satire!!!

Could we not cast Jamie Dornan as an Irish Mr Bloom????

I'd watch that and so would all my friends. I mean with our kids obviously!!!

dopeysheep · 14/11/2013 08:05

My favourite is Rastamouse by far. Theme tune, accents, the lot.

Whistleblower0 · 14/11/2013 08:07

Irish accents (southern) consistantly top polls of the most attractive accent, particularly when spoken by men. This is very closley followed by scots.

uhOhOhDear · 14/11/2013 08:13

I like regional accents, but I dislike the poor pronunciation on cbeebies, it's political correctness gone mad. Why teach toddlers to say 'gonna', 'wanna' etc? Surely we want the next generation to speak clearly?

WaspsInTheHouse · 14/11/2013 08:19

There are more varied accents on cbeebies than when ds1 was little, for which I'm very glad about.

You know some kids grow up in a house where their parents don't even have the same accent Shock It's a hitherto unknown travesty that needs sorting!

msmoss · 14/11/2013 08:23

They filmed a children's programme in Ormeau Park, Belfast but in don't know what it was, what channel or if it had Northern Irish accents in it.

yes, yes, yes to Jamie Dornan as an Irish Mr Bloom although after the fall would you ever feel comfortable watching it? Maybe he could be in the x-rated version that seems to be going through quite a few mumsnetters minds when watching the real one Grin

mumteedum · 14/11/2013 08:24

Iabu but I hate the whiney southern accent of the kids at start of show me, show me. That's my ishoo though! ( northerner...some High pitched southern accented voices are like finger nails down blackboard to me);-)

wem · 14/11/2013 08:27

The Cloudbabies are northern, I love their accent :)

topsmart · 14/11/2013 08:31

BBC Scotland do make things for the kids channels but I'm not sure why posters have claimed bbc Scotland is in charge of the children's tv output - the head office for children's is based in Salford, that's where all the department's bigwigs are.

Tweasels · 14/11/2013 08:43

I love the idea that Cbeebies broadcast Scottish shows in an attempt to get Scotland to vote no to Independence. Ha Alex Salmond has really missed a trick there Confused

And for goodness sake can people please stop confusing Geordies for Scousers we sound nothing alike. And Me Too is also filmed partly in Newcastle thank you very much!

Fluffytent · 14/11/2013 08:43

Green Balloon club has northern accents too

Fluffyears · 14/11/2013 08:50

Might help little people learn to pronounce properly. Loch is not pronounced as 'Lock' and draw is not pronounced as 'drawr'. I don't understand how an accent would be confusing as long as the words are clear and said correctly. Maybe if we slipped into proper slang then yer bairns wouldnae huv a clue whit wis goin oan.

mumteedum · 14/11/2013 08:56

Ahh I enjoyed that fluffy :) lived in Scotland for few years, love the lingo, yer ken? (wrong region u know;)

Fluffyears · 14/11/2013 09:01

Aye ken whit ye mean and aw rhat.
