Actually, I am being really unreasonable. However I would like to ask those who have experienced Angel Feathers to....

...answer a few questions that I have.

1). What does it feel like when you see that feather?

2). What are your thoughts when this happens?

And

3). What would you say are the long term (if any) effects that you would attribute to these encounters.

I understand that this belief has been the subject of some ridicule here. I have no intention of ridiculing anyone. This thread has been inspired by a previous AIBU thread, but is not a thread about a thread. I am not a journalist. I am not seeking results to use in an academic submission or publication. What I am seeking is knowledge and understanding in the hope that I can use it to help others.

IABU for the following reasons:
I only posted in AIBU for the traffic. If MN rule that I have breached guidelines, can it be moved and not deleted.

And I ask the skeptics not to put people off answering honestly. If you think it necessary, I can start another thread for all your thoughts to be discussed. Perhaps the scientifically minded of you could look at this as an information gathering excersise.Smile

Bad is evil. Hettie, you are linguistically very stiff necked. Have you not heard of living language?

headinhands · 16/11/2013 19:35

Religion of UK prison population

As table 2 shows at 30 June 2012 one-half of prisoners in England and Wales were of Christian faith while 30% were recorded as having no religion.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 19:35

Hettie Yes some people will go to Hell.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 19:36

head and what does that prove? It says nothing about their potential.

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 19:36

I admire you, by the way, for being a lone voice, answering questions and not going off in a strop. A difficult thing to do. Just so you know.

(And no, it's not something I could do).

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 19:38

So - and this isn't a trick question - will you feel any distress for the people you know when they are in Hell & you are in Heaven? Any sadness? Any regret for them?

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 19:38

Hettie hey I can switch off when I want. I am used to a certain amount of ridicule. I don't discuss my beliefs so openly with everyone. MN is very low risk in the danger stakes.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 19:40

Hettie I don't know for certain anyone will definitely be in Hell. They all have potential to be in Heaven. It is not the end yet...

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 19:41

There are more applications for "bad" than just describing "evil" things. Evil is an extreme word.

Tantruming toddler - bad. Not good at all. Evil?

headinhands · 16/11/2013 19:42

So sub you think non-Christians have more potential than Christians?

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 19:42

You said, "Some people will go to hell, yes". That sounded certain.

You knew where I was going, right - that's why you backed away.

headinhands · 16/11/2013 19:46

And you backed away, quite rightly, Sub, because you are morally superior to the god you believe in.

headinhands · 16/11/2013 19:47

Which is good Grin

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 19:51

head Hmm we are getting quite metaphysical. Is there a ceiling on good? I've not seen it. So yes and no because our time on this earth is limited. I don't know, cannot quite get my head around it. Nice one to ponder though.

Hettie Tantruming toddler. Tantrums are evil behaviour. The toddler is not, since they have the potential for good. You cast out evil, command it. In other words tell them their behaviour is not acceptable and focus on encouraging the good in them! I would expect anyone to do the same for me, if I was having a tantrum. And I have had the odd adult tantrum in my time.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 19:53

hettie I didn't mean to back away I missed the out the who. I don't know anyone who will be in Hell (as in for definite). The Bible mentions people going to Hell so I believe some will do. I don't know who they are.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 19:54

I do believe we all have a choice, to follow good or evil.

headinhands · 16/11/2013 19:55

So the toddler isn't evil but the tantrum is? What's your definition of a tantrum?

headinhands · 16/11/2013 19:56

Yay I like to be good to people but think Christianity is false. Do I get to go to heaven?

headinhands · 16/11/2013 19:57

What's evil by the way? Define evil?

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 20:00

Usually involves lying on the floor, crying, kicking and screaming and refusing to do anything. Why do you ask head. Obviously not a tantrum if self defence. However you can be innocent (naive, lacking knowledge) and blameless because you know no better and still be capable of evil behaviour without being an evil person spiritually speaking.

Evil hold no shock value for me in the word itself, although it is emotive because complete and utter evil is shocking and rightly so.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 20:01

Evil = against God.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 20:01

Headinhands You tell me. Will you repent?

garlictrivia · 16/11/2013 20:02

Evil = what the speaker doesn't like
Good = what nobody in their right mind could dispute is Good

Leaves a lot of room in the middle for long, rambling conversations.

I do not believe in Evil, because I don't believe human behaviours are driven by external forces. I believe in Good, though, because Good is whatever makes a community or society prosper in some way.

headinhands · 16/11/2013 20:02

Sub you said you had an adult tantrum, what/why was that?

headinhands · 16/11/2013 20:03

What's 'for god' then, without saying 'good'. Be specific.
