Actually, I am being really unreasonable. However I would like to ask those who have experienced Angel Feathers to....

...answer a few questions that I have.

1). What does it feel like when you see that feather?

2). What are your thoughts when this happens?

And

3). What would you say are the long term (if any) effects that you would attribute to these encounters.

I understand that this belief has been the subject of some ridicule here. I have no intention of ridiculing anyone. This thread has been inspired by a previous AIBU thread, but is not a thread about a thread. I am not a journalist. I am not seeking results to use in an academic submission or publication. What I am seeking is knowledge and understanding in the hope that I can use it to help others.

IABU for the following reasons:
I only posted in AIBU for the traffic. If MN rule that I have breached guidelines, can it be moved and not deleted.

And I ask the skeptics not to put people off answering honestly. If you think it necessary, I can start another thread for all your thoughts to be discussed. Perhaps the scientifically minded of you could look at this as an information gathering excersise.Smile

curlew You clever chicken... You can't have one without the other though. Faith is dead without works.

friday16 · 16/11/2013 18:32

Redemption is a process but generally Fruits of the Spirit, patience, kindness etc there are more, they are in the Bible.

Patience and kindness normally include "not killing people if they disagree with you over small matters". Unlike your God, who drowns babies if their parents make doctrinal mistakes.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 18:33

I didn't know that Friday16. Where is your proof? My God is the very definition of good.

curlew · 16/11/2013 18:36

Sublime- please don't take this the wrong way- but are you winding us up?

headinhands · 16/11/2013 18:37

So how come people are capable of displaying all of the fruits of the spirit without being a Christian? I'm sure none of us here could distinguish Christians from non-Christians just by their personalities. On the whole I'm no less loving and patient now that I have rejected Christianity, I clearly see the benefit of being loving and patient without a religion. (As an aside, would it be loving and patient of a god to withhold divine protection from someone because they didn't believe in him)

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 18:38

It's not my usual style to rant like that and I want to apologise for my post

Fireside - you shouldn't be apologising.

If it's any consolation, I don't think that that poster is representative of many Christians in this country. It's usually American fundamentals who come out with that kind of crapthing.

Any decent person, Christian or otherwise, would feel appalled by that.

Good luck to your DH :)

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 18:41

My God is the very definition of good

Now, call me a weirdo, but I would honestly struggle to define a being who sits back and watches child abuse/murder occur on a daily basis without stepping in, "good".

That comes closer to my definition of "evil".

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 18:42

I've not met one headinhands, well consistently anyway...

I do have the Christian radar on sometimes when I meet people in real life. Without saying anything there can be a connection, charisma, something about the eyes...this results in awkwardness sometimes the air practically fizzles.

But I guess that is too woo for you. It could be a perception registered at a subconscious level though. I try not to be overwhelmed by it.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 18:43

Hettei There is evil in the world, but that results from Satan.

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 18:45

But God is more powerful than Satan, surely? Can't he just get rid of him?

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 18:45

And why did God create Satan in the first place, for that matter?

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 18:46

Free will, dear.

headinhands · 16/11/2013 18:46

So some non-Christians have displayed the fruits of the spirit? How so? Would you say all Christians do display the fruits of the spirit?

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 18:46

And it isn't the end yet. Read the end of the book.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 18:47

head They should begin to at some point, otherwise I would question their Salvation. Not that my questioning matters...I thought you said you knew the Bible.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 18:51

Non Christians Fruits of the Spirit, yes of course. Inheritance can help and you can stumble on good almost by accident.

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 18:52

Free will? Whose free will? Satan's?

We prevent child abusers from exercising their free will to abuse by locking them up in prison.

Do we sit back and say, "Oh - but it's his free will".

No. We put a stop to it. We curb his rights and thwart his free will.

We are more moral than your God?

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 18:53

Curlew I am not winding you up but am not totally without humour either. I don't know why you would expect me to be. I do also see irony everywhere these days....

BackOnlyBriefly · 16/11/2013 18:54

My God is the very definition of good. Care to explain golddiggers god then. It's the same god as yours since there can be only one. :)

Actually though you are correct. By definition whatever your god does is good. So when he killed millions including babies that was a good thing because he did it.

BackOnlyBriefly · 16/11/2013 18:55

btw sublime. Since you brought up Free Will. Is there free will in heaven?

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 18:55

Hettie No of we are not more moral. However there is such a thing as end game. The perils of this world are nothing compared to the rewards in heaven. Also without free will we have no choice. Wouldn't you rather have someone love you by choice. Can you actually love if there is no choice involved?

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 18:56

You're expecting the events in Revelation to come true, are you, sublime?

Lonelygran · 16/11/2013 18:59

There is no God, no Satan, and no angels. Feathers come from birds (or pillows).
HTH.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 19:00

Back Yes there is Free Will in Heaven. Except that your concept of freedom might be lacking. In Heaven we are at one with God. There is no Evil. In this world you have a choice to be free through Christ or being a Slave to Sin (like being trapped or addicted, deluded, deceived) No in between really. That is essentially my belief.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 19:01

Hettie Yes. Although it is prophecy and I don't understand all of it myself, yet.
