Actually, I am being really unreasonable. However I would like to ask those who have experienced Angel Feathers to....

...answer a few questions that I have.

1). What does it feel like when you see that feather?

2). What are your thoughts when this happens?

And

3). What would you say are the long term (if any) effects that you would attribute to these encounters.

I understand that this belief has been the subject of some ridicule here. I have no intention of ridiculing anyone. This thread has been inspired by a previous AIBU thread, but is not a thread about a thread. I am not a journalist. I am not seeking results to use in an academic submission or publication. What I am seeking is knowledge and understanding in the hope that I can use it to help others.

IABU for the following reasons:
I only posted in AIBU for the traffic. If MN rule that I have breached guidelines, can it be moved and not deleted.

And I ask the skeptics not to put people off answering honestly. If you think it necessary, I can start another thread for all your thoughts to be discussed. Perhaps the scientifically minded of you could look at this as an information gathering excersise.Smile

sublimelime I asked you if you would mine defining what you meant by false religion.

I gave a couple of examples, but surely you do have an answer or you wouldn't be using the term.

curlew · 16/11/2013 13:46

I do know both the bible and Macbeth. What I don't understand is what you are saying about them!

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 13:47

hettie I use the knowledge I gain through Christ as a measure. I suspect you do not use the same measure...

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 13:48

curlew Ah, then our perception of them is different. I could ask how well you know...

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 13:52

Back* when I speak of false religion, it is in reference to belief in the power of ritualistic practises, over the power of God.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 13:54

Hettie have you not heard of Allegory?

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 13:59

Yes.

What's that got to do with anything?

Is prophecy real or is it not? If it's real, there should be solid examples you can point to. If you can't then it's probably not real.

There's no real for you, real for me....it is or it is not. Not amount of claiming allegory is going to get you out of that.

hettie I use the knowledge I gain through Christ as a measure. I suspect you do not use the same measure... True. I use Sitting Bullshit, my spirit guide for all of my information. He says Jesus never existed and Christianity is a lot of fanciful claptrap. Sorry to break it to you :(

BackOnlyBriefly · 16/11/2013 14:03

sublimelime ah that is little clearer I think. Thank you. So you were not referring to other religions as false, but a false way of practising religion. As in say a catholic who thought more of the cross itself than of god himself.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 14:11

Hettie Don't be sad, because I do not believe you or your Sitting Bullshit, he is deceiving you.

There is absolute Truth, it lies with God. Humankind does not always realise Truth, it is us, as humans, that are fallible.

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 14:15

he is deceiving you

Prove it.

(This is an assertion. Assertions carry BofP).

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 14:18

Back yes! good example. My mother could tell you a lot about folk/Catholic beliefs, spirit guides, ghosts, actual witchcraft. She was raised to be Catholic. Needless to say I don't think all of it is healthy. However she seems to have survived some quite disturbing experiences..I thank God for this.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 14:19

Hettie IMO. Time will tell...

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 14:24

So, you have NO evidence of anything whatsoever. Not a single one of your claims on this thread about Christ, prophecy, the Bible or anything else have come with even the slightest whisper of anything that could be tested or verified. When you've been asked for evidence you've hidden behind the words "faith" and "allegory".

And this is compatible with science.......how?

I think I proved my point, sublime - or rather you made it for me. Thanks.

HettiePetal · 16/11/2013 14:26

There is absolute Truth, it lies with God

Another assertion, btw.

headinhands · 16/11/2013 14:36

Sub what knowledge have you gained through Christ. Give me some examples. Be specific.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 14:37

I never claimed to have evidence.

To me Faith is important, and it is what I am interested in. Where people place their faith, their assumptions, how they form their conclusions, their biases, differing perceptions (especially as a result of differing brain physiology)is what fascinates me. Also changes in brain physiology that can alter perceptions, the effects of stress upon health, epigenetics and physiological changes are all fascinating. Social factors and economical factors creating bias in Science is also of cautionary interest.

Therefore I cannot ignore Scientific study. However I am wary of it, it's implications. Since it is essentially a human endeavour, I trust is considerably less than God.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 14:39

head the examples are too personal and would involve outing myself and family members. However I am forever grateful for my Faith. Without this, our personal outcomes do not bear thinking about.

headinhands · 16/11/2013 14:43

You could change names to make it anonymous. Wouldn't god want you to witness how he's helped you?

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 14:44

Not in this instance head. However I can tell you my child's whole future could easily have been written off.

headinhands · 16/11/2013 14:47

I'm guessing you could have gained whatever knowledge you did via secular means. Another thing, if you've got this direct access to god who shares wisdom with you, wisdom denied to the test of us heathens wouldn't yours and other Christians lives be very different to ours?

headinhands · 16/11/2013 14:47

Well without telling us we have no choice but to discount your claim sadly

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 14:47

They are head.

headinhands · 16/11/2013 14:48

They are? Evidence please

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 14:50

I couldn't have gained the knowledge by secular means. I'm not bright enough.

sublimelime · 16/11/2013 14:50

I told you I don't deal in evidence.
