.... so today EDF announce a 3.9% price rise in energy, less than their competitors, but ONLY if the Government remove social and environmental costs from being their responsibility.

What the hell is this: business setting national policy rather than Government? and in such a blatant and arrogant way, that deflects scrutiny away from other aspects of price rises in bills by the big energy companies?

and the Government are rolling over and AGREEING with them? The fat cats must be rubbing their hands in glee.

I find all this completely unacceptable. Gah!

.. and quite aside from the nuclear development thing, I certainly won't buy energy from EDF.... or any of the other big 6.

I've just switched to a fixed deal with EDF as they were the cheapest deal for us. None of the smaller ones take Independent Gas Transporter customers so they werent an option for us.

But it's ok for government to interfere with pricing by fixing caps/rises? It's a two way street. I for one care very little which way it goes, so long as it results in lower prices. Also the am up for a bit of boat rocking, EDF pointing out there is in fact joint responsibility for energy pricing that blame for escalating cost of living lies with both government and private companies (utilities which until very recently were state owned!)
