To try to substitute breast milk with cows milk at 14 months

For no reason other than I'm fed up with breastfeeding?
I don't mind feeding her a few times in the day if she's upset, or at night, but I'm fed up with feeling like a dairy cow for tiny unnecessary feeds.

AIBU to try and get her to drink more cows milk during the day even though it's not as good for her and there's no reason why I can't bfeed her?

Yanbu, it's up to you :-) you could just feed at certain times, ie before nap, before bed etc. In my experience they soon get used to this and don't ask at other times.

Hi Hop, I have a DC3, 14 months old also. With the others I did bf and 1 formula bottle a day. I upped the bottles at 6 mo and then stopped bfing.
DC3 has been exclusively bf. and he would feed every hour day and night if I let him!
I stopped all day feeds, except before nap, at the end of August. That was fine.
Since then I have tried (unsuccessfully) to night wean. I would feed before bed and try to just do one more at 6am. But he still woke 20 times, and then wiuld be ill or teething and I would start feeding again....
This weekend, I just thought enough! I feel I'm holding him back now. Disturbed sleep, lack of appetite during the day....
So I am in the process of going cold turkey. Last night the longest sleep I've had for a long time. He did a 5 hr stretch! And was ok. I offered cows milk in a sippy cup. He took a bit, I'll stop this in a few days too.
I'm lucky that he has older siblings, and copies whatever they do. Pic weaned onto solids at 6 mo, and he has always just had whatever we eat and drink. The others all love milk. He want keen at first but seems ok with it now.
Just give a healthy balanced diet, and vitamin drops-as the pharmacist- and she'll be grand. As will you.

yanbu. Little sips of breastmilk here and there won't be adding much to her overall nutritional intake at this age if she's eating a good range of food. I think it's perfectly reasonable to cut down feeds to whatever level you are happy with or indeed stop entirely.

I stopped problem-free bf at 3 months with both my DS simply because I'd had enough so for you to be still going at 14 months is admirable. I felt like a weight had lifted when I stopped tbh, and possibly not related but have had two fantastic sleepers.
Do whatever is right for you.

You've done amazingly to get to 14 months, well done you. She can definitely switch to cow's milk, especially if she has a fairly well balanced diet. You could always offer her breast milk if and when it suits you and she/ your body will soon adapt. You've already given her a great start in life.
