of the prat I had to meet at lunchtime. I'd have been more impressed if he'd not been half and hour late and if he'd had the courtesy to apologise.

OP posts:
Bowlersarm · 08/11/2013 15:46

So he will know who you are if anyone directs him here?

BMW6 · 08/11/2013 17:17

Good job I don't drive Blush

phantomnamechanger · 08/11/2013 17:21

well bowler, assuming only ONE person with a personalised number plate on their BMW had a meeting today, and was running late, then yes, the Op is risking outing herself I guess.....

WorraLiberty · 08/11/2013 17:22

What a strange thread Confused

YANBU to be annoyed that he was half an hour late with no apology

But what the fuckety doo has it got to do with is choice of car and plate?

bundaberg · 08/11/2013 17:23

well i don't know... what was it?

Meerkatwhiskers · 08/11/2013 17:27

My DH has a BMW with a personalised number plate Hmm.

His job doesn't involve meeting people though. Grin

Carra23 · 08/11/2013 17:29

I've got 2 BMWs, each with personalised plates. As far as I know, I wasn't late for a meeting today and I don't think I'm a prat.*

*debatable

MyMotherHadMeTested · 08/11/2013 17:29

I don't know, was his number plate ON T1ME or something?

Meerkatwhiskers · 08/11/2013 17:29

Plus he's like John Cleese in clockwise and no way in hell would he be late for anything lol

limitedperiodonly · 08/11/2013 17:38

I have to know what it was first. It can't be any worse than D0 53X on a Ferrari.

Slightly different plate and slightly different car to protect the guilty - but both are in the same area.

Actually, I don't mind him, but if I was single I'd see him more as a fun date than long-term marriage material.

Fenton · 08/11/2013 17:44

I don't get it, did it spell out something rude?

Or is there some correlation between personal plates and being late that I have missed?

Fenton · 08/11/2013 17:49

I've got a cherished plate, it's been in the family for years and has more sentimental value than anything - bears no reference to my initials or anything.

I would be disappointed that someone instantly had me down as a knobber because of it.

On the other hand, ones that say 'V12 SXY' or summat do make me smirk a bit at the ageing boy racer driving it

SirChenjin · 08/11/2013 17:50

BMW stands for Big Massive Wanker. Everyone knows that

Sparklingbrook · 08/11/2013 17:51

Is the OP referring to a BMW with a PP that says 'BMW'. Like an X5 with a numberplate that has 'X5' in it.

I think the OP is saying that a) he was late and b) he had a stupid PP with the name of the car in it and probably C) he was an arse.

limitedperiodonly · 08/11/2013 18:11

Fenton I know someone who hates cherished plates because she thinks the only motive is to conceal the age of the vehicle. She drives a BMW.

It's very important to her to be able to weigh people's income at a glance.

I make no judgement. We're those green saints who don't own a car Wink.

DH does own a modern cherished plate which shows the name of his business (sort of). He just fancied it.

I'm sure if we put it on a car, people would hate us. Especially if it was a BMW. Actually, I'd hate it too. It's not offensive, it's just naff.

BTW the way, our D0 53X friend is a City trader and distressingly young for one so rich. He's from a part of the world that appears not to do embarrassment.

bundaberg · 08/11/2013 18:14

maybe it was not a BMW but had a number plate saying BMW?

like the red car I saw with ferrari stickers on it to replace its own badges. can't remember what it was now, something mundane though

Sallyingforth · 08/11/2013 18:16

Well it clearly DID make an impression on you OP, and a strong one at that, or you wouldn't have taken the trouble to post about it on here.

littlewhitebag · 08/11/2013 19:15

I used to have a BMW with a personalized plate. My plate is very personal to me and I would be mighty pissed off if anyone dissed me because of it. It has been on several volvos and scenics too.

limitedperiodonly · 08/11/2013 19:51

I agree littlewhitebag. I'm just bemused by my friend's hostility to harmless choices, particularly since she chooses to drive a BMW which many people hate for no good reason either.

SoupDragon · 08/11/2013 19:59

What has his car got to do with it? Confused
