To think that the cost of taking the olympics torch into space is excessive

I know the olympics are special, but the financial cost of taking the olympic torch for a space walk is ridicolous. Surely countries should be able to have a reasonably lavish olympics cermony without the pressure to do bettter than previously.

In many ways Russia is a third world country and I feel they should spend their tax payer's money on something a little more mundane. I feel that the one upmanship with the olympics opening celebrations have got out of hand.

Thought this was going to be a Daily Mash story. Not quite sure what to say ... except yes, this is literally taking Olympic lavish spending into the stratosphere.

Well I hope there's enough oxygen up there for the flame to be alight.

I am shocked that the Russians are spending 3 times what was spent on the London Olympics for the winter olympics. Surely the winter olympics is a lesser event than the main olympics
