Yeah yeah- develops imagination, awareness of design, materials, planning blah blah blah. But I don't want to struggle home with a robot shedding milk bottle tops, I don't want to tell my child that dh has 'accidentally' recycled their lighthouse and I don't want my child digging through the bag of recycling and distributing random bits of refuse all over my house. There I've said it, and actually I don't mind if I am BU, I still hate it.

Totally agree with you. All old tat that eventually gets chucked around the living room floor. Used to drive me insane when ds was little. You carry on.......Smile

YAsoooooooooooooooooNBU.

I merrily bin all junk modelling and distract DD if she asks where it has gone. It is a bloody nuisance!

YABU. They have great fun making it and messy creativity is part of childhood, even if it's gluing random cartons.

mrspremise · 05/11/2013 21:37

Absolute massively YANBU to find utterly bloody junk modelling a huge ball-ache. YABU to not let them do it anyway Grin

merrymouse · 05/11/2013 21:46

It's not so much the doing of it, it's the what you do with it once it's made, and the hiding of the tactfully disposed of objects until the bin man comes.

Give them to grandma :)

Yanbu - I hate when the end of term comes and they bring out all this crap stuff that you sent in, glued and painted so that it's harder to put in the appropriate recycling bin.

I don't mind him doing it at nursery, but it is the disposal that I don't like and even more so the spreading of the junk modelling into our house - this is him going into bags ready for recycling, retrieving milk bottles, tin cans and cardboard, then taking them all over the house and abandoning them - he always does it when I am trying to help the others with homework etc then presents his masterpiece to dh. He also has a habit of 'big art attacks' where he will get clothes out of the washing machine, spread them all over the floor and combine them with the recycling! He is remarkably quick at this, less so when I make him return everything. Nursery and Neil Buchanan have a lot to answer for. I'm glad I am not alone and we all know where to send the results coupon !
