Who was being unreasonable?

I was standing in a lift at the shopping centre, and a lady came in with children in a buggy. Several people asked her several times to move position as the lift was cramped, but she appeared not to understand what they were saying. On her way into the lift she accidentally ran over another woman's foot.

The other woman immediately swore loudly. There were several other families with small children, and a couple got very angry and told her not to swear in front of their children. I'm not sure if they actually saw that she had her foot run over.

She didn't apologise for swearing, and neither did the woman who ran over her foot.

Who was being unreasonable?

Neither woman was being unreasonable.

Hearing swearing isn't going to melt children. Woman with pram didn't do it on purpose I'm guessing.

The only unreasonable people were the couple who 'got very angry and told her not to swear in front of their children.'

Buggy woman should have been more careful, maybe.

Couple sounding off were being unreasonable, I think. It's natural to swear if you're hurt.

Buggy woman created this situation. Not the injured party. When you hurt people, and they are startled by being hurt, they swear. Fact of life.

Running a buggy over someone's foot is annoying, but hardly swearingly painful.

A simple apology and acknowledgement should have been enough.

You say buggy woman appeared not to understand what people were saying so maybe she couldn't speak English? Maybe had hearing problems? Maybe just couldn't give a crap?

The woman who swore might have been quite hurt (did anyone ask if she was OK?) and no doubt if no buggy had of hit her, she would of remained quite.

The woman who pushed the buggy, is a twonk, all the adults in the lift should of told her to wait and take the lift, before she attempted to get in.

The unmovable woman should have been more considerate.
The sweary woman should have used clean language to express herself.

The woman shouldn't have shown but that's often instinctual and reactive, unless she purosefully swore at the pram lady then she wasn't being unreasonable.

Pram woman should have listened and waited imo, but she could have had a massive cobb on thinking 'look at all these people i am making assumptions about able bodied people and their kids taking the lift instead of the stairs and blocking it for e and the buggy that won't go up the stairs.

Couple were stupid, they made a big issue about it and made the 'swearing' more apparent to the children, making it a bigger thing. They were the most unreasonable.

Oh and pram woman should have apologised, she was unreasonable not to, i expect she had a cobb on.

As a lift passenger, I'd be looking more at the couple and thinking 'oh fuck off' in my head, even if i wasn't the one run over.

So because it wasn't on purpose she doesn't have to apologise?

Woman who ran over the foot should have apologised.

Woman who swore, shouldn't have sworn with small children around.

Pram woman should have used a sling in a busy public area

Otherwise fit adults should take the stairs so that lifts are free for those who have no choice

It is if you've got a condition like Fibromyalgia and that's one of your sore spots, or an ingrowing toe nail, or a bruise, or cut or something. If some one ran over my foot with a buggy I'd try not to swear but I couldn't guarantee it!

The shouty people shouldn't have got angry with the woman who had her foot run over, and the woman with the pushchair should have waited for the next lift.

All the people in the lift that didn't need to be were in the wrong. If they hadn't been using the lift there would have been enough room for those who actually did need to use it

Not always practical if you have lots of shopping as well as the baby or have muscular problems with using a sling. Pram woman was not unreasonable for using a pram but she was for not looking where she was going.

My god somebody hurts you you suddenly shout out without thinking! Hardly unreasonable for swearing in this instance
