His beloved giraffe goes everywhere with him.

Its become a part of the family I swear.

On a couple of occasions recently, giraffe has nearly been lost/left behind.

Aibu, and slightly sad, to have just bought a spare in case the aforementioned disaster ever occurred?

No, but make sure you swap them over, so they are in similar condition, or the replacement will be rejected.

ForTheLoveOfSocks · 03/11/2013 09:50

Bloody phone! I meant to say nope, I've just done the very same yesterday Smile

PoppyScarer · 03/11/2013 09:50

YANBU, good plan.

Although it's a sure fire way to ensure he moves onto another toy next week .

Also you need to start getting the new ones rotated in, so that they get the authentic look/smell.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 03/11/2013 09:50

A good idea.

fishybits · 03/11/2013 09:51

Nope, I've got three of DD's favourite toy and rotate them as MammaTJ suggests.

floatyflo · 03/11/2013 09:52

Not a bad idea MammaTJ

I did think about, if ever needed, that giraffe had been on holiday and that's why he is not ratty and stinking all refreshed and renewed.

We have a blue Matalan hippo blankie in reserve - it would be a disaster should "Hiphop" ever be lost!

MomentForLife · 03/11/2013 09:58

No, wish I'd done it with Piglet. It is a trauma for DD when I put him in the wash and we've come close to leaving him on holiday.

ImagineJL · 03/11/2013 10:00

DS1 became attached to a giraffe Moulin Roti thing as a baby. He is 8 now, and we have 6 in total. I'm not taking any chances! He takes all of them to bed with him!

ImagineJL · 03/11/2013 10:01

He does moan a bit when I wash them, but they become skanky again soon enough!

Smartiepants79 · 03/11/2013 10:01

Nope, we have 3 duckies and I am considering buying another before jellycat stp making them.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/11/2013 10:08

Not at all! We have had three Woofies, although now we only have two, but absolutely, start rotating them now or your cunning plan won't work!

My son is 14 by the way, and Woofy is still a big part of our family!

floatyflo · 03/11/2013 10:11

Well I am pleased im not the only one.

I think I would be a touch upset if giraffe went walkabout myself!

Sounds sensible to me. I've got 2 of DD's favourite toy and 3 of DS's. Rotated every time they get washed so they are identical.

My kids always manage to vomit on their favourite toy whenever they are poorly. Having a spare is a godsend!

TheRobberBride · 03/11/2013 10:18

Oh God no it's not unreasonable. Very sensible in fact.

My first DC became attached to a M&P rabbit. I secretly bought another 2 and rotated them so they had similar amounts of wear. We lost one on holiday once. DC was very upset. It would have been a disaster if I hadn't been able to replace him quickly.

DC2 loves a jellycat elephant. I have 2 at my house and their Dad has another one at his just in case.
