And manufacturers who put them in those Hallowe'en tubs are cruel. It will be dark, some poor child will get them by accident and be exposed to the HORRORS!

Parma Violets. Confused
Or is it Palma?
Anyhoo
Why would you?

As bad as custard, octopus, squid and Other Things I can think of at the mo, but will.

You're wrong.
They are magical and wondrous.
They taste of mauve in the way that bubblegum tastes of pink.
They are the food of fairies.
And when you say you don't like them, fairies die.
YABU.

Best sweets ever, especially as my kids hate them.

My Mum loved them too and I always know when my brother has been to the cemetery as he leaves a single one on her cross.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/11/2013 00:39

They DO taste of mauve!

EmptyChair, that is such a lovely thing. Bless him, your mum too X

Mauve. What a weird word that is. But def the food of he devil, not fairies!

I love turkish delight, marzipan and licquorice.

Hate parma violets and aniseed balls.

I also hate Time Out bars. Angry

Yanbu...your thread title has just brought back some horrible childhood memories but I can't quite remember their taste which is a good thing IMO. I think they tasted like a cross between lavender soap, talcum powder and cheap body spray.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/11/2013 10:23

Old lady handbag sweets

Fakebook - sorta chalky sweet perfume.

I am somewhat horrified as nearly all were taken last night, those poor kids today going

I am totally addicted to all types of aniseed sweets (they got me off the fags, so I replaced one addiction with another) and I am a bit meh about parma violets.

But ... those liquorice allsorts pink and blue jellies with the hundreds and thousands on the outside now ... bleeeeeeeeeeee!!

In the name of research, I've just fished some out of the leftovers. Still as bluegh as I remember. Made DS try them "yuk, it tastes of soap". He's just given me a mini mars from the swag he collected last night, to get the taste out of my mouth.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/11/2013 11:26

Oh bless your DS. Keep him.

My dd put a bag of sweets in trolley this week but didn't like any of them so I ate the lot last night and felt really sick.. refreshers, parma violets, love hearts, drumsticks..

Dollslikeyouandme · 01/11/2013 15:49

You are being very, very unreasonable. And I'm offended on behalf of the parma violets.

On this house I collect them all out of the bags of sweets and stash them in my car so that noone else can have any.

Trazzletoes · 01/11/2013 15:51

Bloody hate Parma violets. They're evil.

Custard is amazing though. You're lovely but very odd.

A life without custard is no life at all!
