And manufacturers who put them in those Hallowe'en tubs are cruel. It will be dark, some poor child will get them by accident and be exposed to the HORRORS!

Parma Violets. Confused
Or is it Palma?
Anyhoo
Why would you?

As bad as custard, octopus, squid and Other Things I can think of at the mo, but will.

I'll be all over the Turkish delight though.

FastWindow · 31/10/2013 20:17

fisharefriendsnotfoood · 31/10/2013 20:23

approach salty liquorice with caution - i looovvveeee all things liquorice, or at least i thought i did until i tried salty dutch version last week -

words can not describe the awfulness, parma violets are delightful in comparison.

Towanda · 31/10/2013 20:26

Yabu, parma violets are my favourite. I have to wrestle them off the DC.

DanglingChillis · 31/10/2013 20:29

I had an amazing Sea Urchin Mousse in Girona years ago. Yum! Parma Violets on the other hand I'm not bothered about either way.

AmeliaToppingLovesShopping · 31/10/2013 20:30

I LOVE Parma Violets but weirdly don't like Monster energy drinks as they taste too flowery.

I might go through the DDs trick or treat bag and see if they have any, I'm sure they wouldn't like them anyway Grin

OHforDUCKScake · 31/10/2013 20:31

I ate some tonight, thinking Id hate them as an adult despite liking them as a child.

I ate them with a Envy face.

Then I thought, why am I eating them like this they are just as nice as they always have been!

Totally understand why people dont like them though, the weird purple, flowery things that they are.

YerDaftApeth · 31/10/2013 20:38

It's like sucking a flower or something with a lovely taste.

Such a lovely colour too.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 31/10/2013 20:42

Oh my God, you are so right. I was really touched when my Dutch colleagues sent me a food parcel including liquorice.

And then I discovered they were trying to poison me. How mean and evil can they be?

Meanwhile, if people have unwanted Parma Violets to dispose of, I can offer a safe home for them, from the goodness of my heart, just to save you all from them.

Surely Parma violets (and cherry lips, and Squirrel floral gums) exist to remind children that life isn't all ha ha ha, hee hee hee and you have to learn to like certain things, like work, washing up, and sweeties that taste like soap?

I bought Penhaligon's Violetta purely because it smells exactly like parma violets mmmm...

I tested Violetta recently, and I knew I couldn't afford the Parma Violet habit it would cause if I wore it every day, so I didn't buy it (I do recommend Penhaligon's customer service, though.) Same with Creed's Love in Black.
