To hate DH's beard?

DH has always been clean shaven. I'm not a fan of facial hair. He has grown a beard and I HATE it!! I love him but oh man I want to scratch my face off when he kisses me! I'm really hoping its just a phase but he really likes it. He is good looking but the beard hides his loveliness. Maybe I should LTB. (Leave the beard).

Help me Mumsnet, I'm NBU am I?

My DH slipped while trimming his moustache and had to take his beard down to stubble while it grew back. I cried my little heart out.

You may learn to love it.

Just pmsl at beard hating by proxy. That's how I feel about beards. I mean it's just there ON HIS FACE. Hmm He is so proud of it. He's never had a beard before. I'm stuck with wanting to scratch the very skin from my face aren't I?

Dh is getting a head start on Movember, but as he won't do a moustache (think Village People and you'll understand what it makes him look like) he's going for the full beard with shaved neck.

OMG but it looks so good on him! He looks like a rakish dastardly pirate, about to sweep me off my feet and carry me away to... (deep breaths, flutters fan)

OTOH it's not yet long enough to stop being prickly, and it's a bit eurgh kissing him when he's been outdoors because its all cold and amp with condensation.

My dp's beard was soft and lovely...then he shaved and now has a face like sandpaper.

I am honestly shocked at the thought of straight women being unhappy with the hair growth patterns of an adult male. Have you considered that a preference for the beardlessness of youth might be well, a bit ... dubious?

(Made a trimming error when the boys were little. Decided to start again. Emerged from bathroom. DS2 - "Daddy, where's your beard?" "I've shaved it off, son." "SHAVE IT BACK ON!" He's nearly old enough to grow his own now.)

DH came back from sea with a full set for the first time and DD aged about 14 months roared with laughter when she saw him coming to the car Grin

Nothing quite like a little "hot fuzz" action Blush after a few weeks away but then he shaves it off.

I hated my DHs beard too to start with but I love it now! You have to give it a little while to grow long enough to stop being stubbly and scratchy. When he shaves it off now it's awful and unsettling, like he's taken off a part of his face.

If DH stops dealing with his facial hair then so will I. It's debatable who will have the fullest tache and beard. Yuck yuck yuck horrible things. LTB.

Even Ben Cohen can't make a beard sexy.

Are you me?! DH growing a beard for the first time, he loves it and I hate it! I am reconciling myself to the general beard but I cannot stand the moustache bit-I can't have a kiss without it going up my nose or just prickling me.
And yes, I do think of the twits which makes me shudder!

Threads like this make me SO glad that my DP has to be clean-shaven for his job. I hate beards - thankfully he doesn't like them anyway but he can't change his mind this way!
