Aibu to be mortified? I'm staying with dm and df with my dc. Im not overly close to dm and df and definitely not in an over-sharing of personal information way.

This evening I was sitting on their sofa. I stood up and saw thick blood where I'd been sitting, made worse by my moving and stuffing it. Needless to say I'm on a heavy af and had leaked through my night time super towel. I got up and left the room in horror as I needed to sort myself out, I thought they'd notice the blood stain on their beloved cream sofa whilst I'd gone but wonder if the cat had hurt its paw or something

When I got back nothing was mentioned so I sat on the stain to hide it, resolving not to move all night until everyone else had gone to bed and praying ds didn't wake on his monitor causing me to have to move

Many cringeworthy hours later I'm safety in my bed, having hidden the stain all night, but Aibu to be mortified? earlier today dm was delighting in her wonderful cream sofas, which I've now badly bloodstained. I've hidden the stain by turning a seat cushion, tomorrow I must find a way to buy some stain remover and apply stealthily, easier said than done I suspect.

I would try to clean it up tonight while they're in bed. The longer you leave blood stains the harder they are to remove

Bim I've searched their house since they went to bed, no stain remover...

Use cold water and rinse like mad but do it ASAP...... Once most of it is out add detergent etc.
Please rinse with cold water....

I've never tried it myself but heard salt is good at lifting blood stains. I obv don't know ur mum but I'd just go have a word with her as she will surely understand and maybe she will know what to do with it

Got blood on a friends wedding dress once. I got it out by wetting the stain and then putting salt on it. Worked really well. They must have salt there do you think?

Yes salt and cold water work well.... If you can run stain under the tap whilst its running.... If possible.

Good that you are tackling it tonight-I doubt you would've slept all that well otherwise.

Get salt and sprinkle a good amount all over stain, have a container of cold water and use a clean rag/ towel to work the cold water and salt into it. It really works, keep using more salt and fresh water until stain is gone. Obviously dab dry as you go as you don't want to soak seat.

Cold salty water is the best thing for getting blood out of something! Don't use warm water as it will set the blood and stain.

If it helps (which it won't) I did this one of the first times I visited PILs in their house. Nice cream chair. I was rooted to it - couldn't move, couldn't mention it, couldn't not mention it. Eventually it was time to go and I legged it to the car, knowing I'd left a bloody mess behind me.

And bless them, they didn't say a word. They did get new chairs a few months later and offer us the old ones, but they didn't say a word.

Dont be mortified. I dont know any woman who hasnt leaked at one point in their life. It happens. Your mum will be understanding im sure.

Get the cover of the cushion if possible and wash with cold water as mich as you can.

Good old fashioned spit will get blood out too. It's the enzymes.

I've found baby wipes are surprisingly good. Cut myself shaving, didn't notice and got blood on my white duvet cover. Only thing I had to hand were baby wipes so gave it a quick scrub and it worked :)

I second spit. God that sounds wrong!

You really have to do it now though. Before it dries any more (that goes for spitting or washing up liquid).

I would; Get a towel, sponge,dish with detergent (bio if you have it) and COLD water.
Put the towel underneath the stain and flush with detergent and water. You should find that most of it easily washes away. Then use spit/salt for stubborn bits.

I would ask your Dm. I bet she will surprise you.

Thanks, I've used salt/water/spit. The smudged part came out quite easily but the main part is still there, though faded. Hassled I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Seat cushion is still turned, today I need to get stain remover and use tonight when they're in bed. I suspect they noticed and said nothing...you couldn't miss it on the cream sofa.
