To not care a jot about the panda?

Just been to visit them at the zoo. As I expected it's asleep. Sleeps 16 hours a day. The male one's ill so can't be on show. So we spend 10 minutes in a room with a video of it actually moving whilst it sleeps in a corner.

Maybe there's a reason it's only in season for 2 days a year? God's trying to tell us something surely? Wink

One horned Rhinos on the other hand are the dog's bollocks. And if you hear one fart you're in for a treat. Fantastic!

Hang on, you're saying the one thing they actually eat they can't even digest efficiently?

Pandas are fucked.

mrsjay · 29/10/2013 22:17

you know rolling about hugging my stick sounds fab and I would only need to DTD twice a year Oh ok being a panda sounds bliss

mrsjay · 29/10/2013 22:18

Hang on, you're saying the one thing they actually eat they can't even digest efficiently?

they have to eat loads of it that is why they sleep and eat and they can't really digest it properly

TheCrackFoxFucker you live in Edinburgh Envy I should live there. I always well up when I leave. Just been for a few nights with my dcs and tore myself away today.

Gone off cosmic ordering.

I think the reasoning behind giving up on pandas was around they all the help to the detriment of less cute animals.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 29/10/2013 22:21

I needed a giraffe for FB. Promised I'd take a pic of one instead of downloading one because of the stupid riddle thing. Anyway they're not there, pandas are.

I have thought about this a lot Grin

Maybe too much when the summit of my current ambition is to be a panda.

Thesimplethings · 29/10/2013 22:22

I visited Edinburgh zoo recently. No sign of a panda. But I understand they are private animals and they are almost extinct. If they need to be away from prying eyes in order to carry in the breed then fair enough.

Yes I was disappointed, yes ds's age 3 and 2 were disappointed but they accepted that they are rare special animals and were happy with a toy panda each which they still take to bed every night.

How would you like to be in an enclosure stretch marks etched on show?

mrsjay · 29/10/2013 22:22

whatever gets you through the day rhonda

I saw a few day old Giraffe at Longleat the other year it was adorable and gangly

happydaze77 · 29/10/2013 22:22

Chris Packham described them as 'an evolutionary cul-de-sac'.

Meglet · 29/10/2013 22:22

Does anyone know if there was ever a period when Pandas weren't at risk? Were they as common as muck, say 500 yrs ago?

Bless them, they are cute but really need to get their act together on the shagging and diet front if they want to survive another 100yrs.

Oh and her fella is in separate enclosure all the time. He's not well because he can't absorb calcium.
