We had our handyman found today to do some journey. He should have finished today but needs to come back tomorrow to complete. We use him a lot and trust him in our property unattended.

I have plans with 11 month old ds tomorrow. I would have left a key with the hm so he could lock up, and I could have taken dh' s key so I could get in later on.

He's refused to give me his key because it's apparently inconvenient for him (not sure how since I'd be at home when he returned from work) and we should just stay in till the work is done. He was annoyed at me today for not telling him the job was taking longer than expected and for not asking the hm how long he was going to be....of course the handymans work rate is my fault!

So iabu for wanting to go out or is dh?

Think it would be much easier for you to be out with DS while HM works away and you don't have to change plans. Not sure how it is inconvenient for your DH to be without key if you will be in when he gets home, and not sure why he's disgruntled at work going over, it will be done tomorrow while he is at work and unaffected by it.

Def him, not you

Him not you, I could imagine my dh pulling that kind of nonsense. What you need to say is. "No dh it's not inconvenient for you, you just don't trust the handyman in our house"

Mine thinks I'm going to sit in the house all day watching a plumber for 2 months straight (with a 3 year old and a newborn). He's very much mistaken.
