Storm prep?

To think it was pointless to prepare for the storm by cutting back a tree and then leave the branches on the ground?

Have people been panic buying in the supermarkets? That's what usually happens. As if the storm is going to last a week.

what storm? or am I speaking too soon. its a bit blowy outside and I am wondering just how bad it's going to get.

asda delivered me bread , wine and orange truffle Baileys -for xmas-- so I am all set.

It is going to be severest in the early hours of the morning.

The storm may not last a week but the knock on effects might especially in rural areas.

The last severe storm that I remember was in January 1990. We were without electricity for 8 days afterwards! I hope we don't get a repeat of that this week.

Yup I'm aware of rural areas, my parents live in one. Can't say they've been panic buying.

the branches are probably safer on the ground if the tree was a bit dodgy to start with? was it a bit wobbly?

Loose garden stuff gathered up.

Stuff wedged in front of the shed door in case it rattles open.

Phone charged in case the lights/internet go out.

Cats in for the night (needed no persuading).

There's nothing happening outside. It's not even windy. . Storm shmorm...

not done anything, I have charger case for my phone and the car also has a charger for my phone.

my phone has tons of books, netflix, and a lot of apps. Most importantly i will be able to MN.

We have torches, candles, basic food cupboard supplies (and more on the way from Tesco tomorrow hopefully). We've gone over our emergency house evacuation plan and I'm heading out into the garden shortly to make sure all the garden chairs, toys, and the bbq are either secured or put away in the garage.

And then I have rum. Sorted.

Smile I would just skip that and go straight for the rum.

When did they ever get the weather forecast right? It will amount to nothing, mark my words.

Well, we are due to be hit at about 5am round my way.

I am down in the nuclear bunker with the cats, The Fiance, a year's worth of food and water, etc etc.

Its blowing a blinkin gale here. I have moved the animals away from the big old trees. And bought wine. Thats it rly. Oh and put all the buckets wheelbarrows general crap in a stable and shut the door.

I'm with LaGuardia. Everyone will wake up and nothing will have happened yet the trains will still be screwed - so an average Monday morning.

Well its started blowin up a hoolie where I am and the fackin tele's gone on the blink.

I have humus and crisp bread and wine and tea and loads of loo roll.

Ive charged up the phones,found candles/lighters,tidied all the crap in the garden into the shed and brought extra milk for comforting hot chocolate.
They are saying we will get the worst of it here though.

The storm is coming! It's in the channel at the moment, with some really heavy rain.

Bum it's horrible outside and I've done nothing oops.

I locked the shed door so it doesn't bang in the wind. That's about it!

I have no doubt it's going to hit the area I live in hard when it eventually turns up.
