People who talk about their own personality on Facebook

MalcolmTuckersMistress · 26/10/2013 14:44

Yeah I know Facebook. But, I hate these kind of updates...

"Oh everyone who knows me knows I have a really quirky and intelligent sense of humour"

Or

"I have so much love to give to the right person but my personality is so free and brave and bold and too clever for average men, so I guess for most they just couldn't handle me."

The latter usually followed by loads of "U Ok Hun? Xxxxx" or just "xxxxx" and of course the attention seeking author of the original status never actually replies to the comments again. Just loves all the Aaawhunning that goes on.

CUNTS CUNTS CUNTS FUCK OFF CUNTS.

Completely agree with this does me nut in, especially when you dare ask what is wrong and you either don't get an answer or you get "nothing hun"

Why post it if you are only telling half the story?Blush

Pagwatch · 27/10/2013 09:17

The thing that makes me properly sad is that even though I have very few fb friends including my large family, the only people who are absoloute twats include my previously closest relative.

She's a sweetheart. Well I thought she was. But a status with a picture of the McCanns with piles of cash in front of them put paid to that.

So I hide her stuff and her DCs but then I get 'did you not see we were going to be at x this weekend' and I have to lie.

Alexandrite · 27/10/2013 09:23

I used to post on another site where there was a woman who would always bang on about how laid back she was. The rest of her posts were either about things she was anxious about or her sneering at state schools/chavs/other people on the board's holidays that she considered low class/various other things people on the board did that she considered low class. I don't think I have ever met someone less laid back (or more unpleasant! )

YouTheCat · 27/10/2013 09:46

I do like the madness of it all. I don't have many friends who post shite though there seems to be too many giraffes for my liking.

I do like a good eye roll at some of them though. Grin

My current status is about my cat.

lade · 27/10/2013 10:55

I think I've escaped the giraffes - less than 2% of my friends have actually done it. Whether that means I have very cleverfriends, sensible ones or just boring farts, I guess is a matter of perspective Grin

BlingBang · 27/10/2013 14:02

What's with the giraffes, did I miss something? I honestly don't recognise FB as people describe it here. One cringey friend who I should hide but have a horrified fascination with her cringey posts. Everyone who posts crap, contentious issues, argues, fills my news feed with junk is hidden or unfriended.

soontobeburns · 27/10/2013 16:56

I admit me and DP are the couple who posts. "I love you so much xxx" to each other when we are in the room together Grin

I think it stems from the fact that a few lot of my fb "friends" are people from school who sometimes bullied me and I never thought I would meet someone, so I do like to show off.

I also only put up "pretty" pictures and post about my amazing social life to show off.

Yes im a fucking show off but I still think im better than the douches who relay all their relationship issues on fb or moan and dont give the full picture.

Im 23 so still kind of young, in the technology age and feel somewhat justified.

AgentZigzag · 27/10/2013 17:06

Bling - Tee explained it earlier as 'Giraffe thing;

There's a riddle. If you get the answer right you get to keep your profile pic. If you get it wrong, you have to change your pic to a giraffe for 3 days.'

"Here is the riddle: 3:00 am, the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors, It's your parents and they are there for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open?"

AgentZigzag · 27/10/2013 17:08

'I think it stems from the fact that a few lot of my fb "friends" are people from school who sometimes bullied me and I never thought I would meet someone, so I do like to show off.'

Like they say soontobeburns, the best revenge is to live your life well, in your case it's totally fine to let them all know they were twats wrong Smile

BlingBang · 27/10/2013 17:18

Soontobeburns - when folk do all that I love you stuff, it immediately makes me suspicious and I think they are perhaps just putting up a show - or I hide or unfriend them TBh.

BlingBang · 27/10/2013 17:19

Agent, - the door?

soontobeburns · 27/10/2013 17:21

So glad to hear that zigzag I can loosen the flame retardant suit a little bit.

Granted its not all showing off. We have all changed since we where teenagers and its nice to see people mature and see how everyone is doing.

AgentZigzag · 27/10/2013 17:21

Eyes apparently Bling.

BlingBang · 27/10/2013 17:30

Bum, thought I had it!

nomorecrumbs · 27/10/2013 17:33

My mother is guilty of many of the crimes on this thread. Cringey.

My own feed is far more cool. A status about Homeland, a clip from The Simpsons, outrage about Kinder Egg stereotyping, outrage about Gove, comic taking the piss out of Gove, pics of the Proms, holiday pics mainly of me pissed. Wow, it could be MN Grin

MalcolmTuckersMistress · 27/10/2013 17:50

AND THERE WE HAVE IT! in goes Celebrity death friend first to post about the passing of poor old Lou Reid.

How do you know it's your parents if you haven't yet opened your eyes?

imofftolisdoonvarna · 27/10/2013 17:55

And what does that have to do with giraffes anyway?!

AgentZigzag · 27/10/2013 18:21

Because they're the only weirdo's to come round for breakfast at 3am imoff?

And as well as ringing the doorbell they're shouting through the letterbox/banging on the door/throwing stones up at the window.
