is it the app on a iphone/ipad? in which case, blame Apple, not Amazon. If Amazon sell anything via the app, it is considered an in-app purchase, and Apple take 30%.

If it's the Kindle app on a different device, what device?

thegreylady · 26/10/2013 14:24

On my ipad I have downloaded Kindle then I buy books from my Amazon account in the usual way.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/10/2013 14:31

Don't you need to buy them through the Kindle app?

MitsuruSenpai · 26/10/2013 14:34

Easy is right, it's so that Apple don't take a cut of the sale. You can buy them through the mobile site though, which is pretty much identical to the app anyway.

Caitlin17 · 26/10/2013 14:35

You need to install the Kindle app. The Amazon app is not the same. There is an Amazon app which is the shortcut to the web site app and the other Amazon app for mp3 download and the Kindle app.

Caitlin17 · 26/10/2013 14:37

You can get the Kindle app for all platforms, ios, Android, Windows phone.

LordPalmerston · 26/10/2013 14:40

oh i see - yes it is on iPhone etc

Yes, Caitlin but even if you have the Kindle app on an Apple device, you can't shop through it, because Apple forbid it unless they get a cut of the money. If you use the Kindle app on any other platform, the shop functionality is there.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 26/10/2013 15:57

you shop through amazon as you would on a laptop, either through the app or via your web browser, it downloads to your kindle and the books appear when you open the kindle app

Caitlin17 · 26/10/2013 16:51

Sorry EasyFrom, didn't know that, just assumed as I've seen Kindle apps on iPhones it worked the same way as it does on Android and Windows phones. You can buy straight to the phone on both.

Crowler · 26/10/2013 16:58

Apple is exceedingly unreasonable in many respects.

Beccadugs · 26/10/2013 17:02

I always wondered why you can't buy through the kindle of amazon app (I mean kindle books on amazon app you can buy everything else!) I don't begrudge it at all now I know it is to avoid putting prices up to feather apples nest!

Crowler · 26/10/2013 17:10

This actually makes me want to buy a Samsung Galaxy.

Except I can't remember how to work a PC.

I feel stuck.

LordPalmerston · 26/10/2013 17:21

Oh I know how to circumvent. Just it's annoying

I use the Kindle on my ipad and can buy stuff in the usual way. I have a shortcut to Amazon on my home page and use that. There is absolutely no problem, its the same as my Android I think (I'll check).

thegreylady · 27/10/2013 10:32

You are right! On the ipad I have to go through Amazon to buy books for the Kindle .
