To be utterly fucked off with bastarding mice!!!!! AAAAAARRRRRGGHHHHH

We live in a 6 year old house. 2 years ago our row had a horrendous infestation of mice. 3 of the 4 houses in the row all got the council out. Took about a month or so but we got all the little bastards.
Last year and earlier this year, more mice. Not as many but still Sad Sad
Two weeks ago neighbour called round to say she thinks she may have heard them again and keep an ear out. We heard nothing. Last 2 days our upstairs (bathroom, landing and nursery) stink. Absolutely vile.
DH takes side off the bath and there is a errrr crusty mouse by the pipe and a hole burrowing through the floorboards.
We cant get to under the floorboards under the bath and the smell is getting worse. I feel dirty and shit and so fed up with having our home fucked around by mice every year. What the hell can I do. I just want to scream (and move).

Do you know how they are getting in? We have had mice and have blocked up obvious holes which has helped. A colleague also recommended one of those plug in things that apparently keeps them away.

If you have bought the house and it is new, do you have one of the those 10 year guarantees? I know the builders don't always honour them but if they have left holes in your house they should sort them out.

We have also used humane traps with peanut butter, successfully.

Hi Beatrice.
We have all (but one - same neighbours who didnt get mice man out - denied all knowledge of having them despite being in the middle of a block who were all infested) blocked any access points. House I think guaranteed for 5 years. I really cannot take it any more.

I could have written this! We live in a Victorian flat and there's no escaping them. If one flat in a block has them everyone will, even if you shut all food away in plastic boxes and clean the floors daily. I have now told dh we are borrowing a cat whether he likes it or not

We had a cat. I dont want to get another until ds is old enough to understand caring for a pet.
Two of the four houses in the row have cats they still got mice. The mice were in the loft/wall cavities.

I know this sounds a bit mad, but we have blocked up their hole with balled up aluminium foil. Apparently they don't like it, and haven't seen them since.

Traps that kill them is the only way. Get them, put peanut butter on them. I killed 6 in two days earlier this year. Horrible but the only way.

Do you like cats? We had the same problem and got a cat and they fucked off out of our flat into the neighbours. Which was nice as they were gits. (The neighbours, not the mice. Well both actually when I think about it.)

We have the same problem.

Traps with peanut butter have killed a few, but we are in a Victorian flat too, and I've given up hope now TBH.

Check for holes, check the front and back doors for gaps, and keep calling in the professionals.

It's horrible, the little bastards are ruining my evenings.

The dead body smell only lasts a week, but it does stink!

We had mice at work and got rat and mouse poison from a farm suppliers. It's much stronger than the normal poison.

Humane traps - make sure you release the mice at least a mile from your house

rat poison kills through internal bleeding, and any cat that eats a mouse poisoned with it will probably die too. It is a slow painful death

Um in the same boat. Every time I set the traps with peanut butter the fuckers disappear it's like they know.

You need to get an odour clearing bag, expensive but worth it and lasts for weeks, if not months. We had a dead mousey behind the skirting board, the smell was enough to make me wretch everytime I walked up the stairs, but the bag "mopped" up the smell in hours and lasted ages! Dont poison the mice, get a trap or anything to avoid the terrible stench of the rotting bodies!

I feel your pain. The incontinent little fuckers were really getting me down. You really need to be systematic in your approach, go through every room in your house and any gaps that you can poke a pencil through will need to be sealed. I stuffed gaps with wire wool and sprayed foam from a can that builders use to seal pipes and gaps. Once you have stopped them from getting in you can focus on dispatching the little monsters that have taken up residence with snap traps baited with snickers or mars bars.

I have been mice free for two weeks and I can not tell you how this has changed my life. My kitchen is not very big and there wasn't enough room to put crockery into cupboards so everything had to be put in plastic containers.

Have you had a private firm in? I had a bad infestation two years running and the third year had a different pest control firm who sorted it and found holes and gaps I didn't know were there, plus got long lasting poison dishes behind skirting boards and under the bath which cause ex mice to mummify without stinking or causing problems. Touch wood, I haven't had a problem since (two years now).

Still haven't got over finding a live mouse in my bed in the early hours of the morning however Grin

I can top that OPHmm,
We have rats.
In the walls, in the roof spaces, under the floors. Thankfully none in the house itself.
No idea how they get in, but at least one died behind the cooker, leaving the stench of decay on all oven-baked foods as the fan draws air past the corpse(s).
It's been a month so far, we've put down enough poison to annihilate a small country.

Sorry, I was posting on my phone the other night so not sure I explained things.
We live on the end of a block of five houses. We (and three of the other four houses) all had pest control out who got rid of the problem initially. We all (again, apart from 1), went aroud the houses (it looked quite funny we all helped each other out) and blocked ANY external access points as per advice from pest control.
However we got them again. Twice. Still, the one house in the row denied having them (they must have been leaving out of one front door, bypassing their house and coming into our front door Halloween Hmm )
We still had blocked external access points.
The last time, the house that didnt block anything was empty and up for rent so we contacted the letting agent to let them know and they said they had never heard about a mouse problem and refused to even acknowledge it.
Now, again the mice have gone, but they all appear to have died in an inaccessile place under our bathtub under the floorboards and the stench is horrendous.
So I am utterly fucked off that not only do I get randomly terrorised (I have a phobia) by them when they are alive, but even now they are dead, I feel dirty and horrible and am so fucked off with the whole thing I just want to move (which is silly I know, as generally I love my house).

I have a phobia as well. I always jumped on a chair when I saw them, then it was exacerbated by (KLAXON - look away NOW fellow phobics - I mean it) having one run over my face when DD was a baby in a moses basket at the foot of my bed.

I have just heard them start up again for the winter under the floorboards in my bedroom. am all panicky and upset.

You have my sympathy cutteduppear. The whole time we had them I barely slept, i would just cry waiting for them to stop.
