To wonder when the fuck people on telly started getting younger than me?

Time was, they were all older. The Friends lot were older than me. Everyone in all the soaps was. All the romantic leads in films were grown ups.

But somehow, SOMEHOW, over the last few years, they've started casting younger and younger people until now they are all kiddie inks. And I have to watch the going 'ahh bless' instead of 'look at how the grown ups act'.

What the fucking fuck?

I may start a petition.

Kiddie inks. Hmm. I meant kiddiwinks. But my phone hates me so whatever.

I'm 30 and I'm really starting to notice this now too. Sad

HulaHooperStormTrooper · 24/10/2013 22:37

I was watching Friends last night. They were all older than me. I am now the same age they were then.

fml

Tell you what though - Zac Efron is my guilty secret.

MacaYoniandCheese · 24/10/2013 22:40

Ugh. And everyone was born in the 90's. The 90's! That was about five minutes ago in my world. How is it possible that children people born in the nineties can have glittering careers on the large and small screen already?

FairVerona · 24/10/2013 22:47

I'm older than the Prime Minister! THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE!! Except that it is! Noooooooo!!!

HulaHooperStormTrooper · 24/10/2013 22:49

I don't care anymore anyway, I fucking love being 32 actually.

I am married, 2 kick ass kids and I get to do a job I love. I am not rich, my car works as it feels like it and I am carrying a lot more timber than I should but I feel a hell of a lot more sure of myself now than I ever have before.
I think we had the better deal - screw being younger now. Far too complicated.

MrPricklepants · 24/10/2013 22:50

I had a realisation the other day that at 36 I would never be a professional footballer. Sigh, it was a sad day.

Reality · 24/10/2013 22:54

Oh I'm with you Hula, I'm 33 (for six more weeks) and life is great, I wouldn't swap my thirties for my twenties or teens. But but but

I do not like being older than the zeitgeist. I spent my twenties reaching for the now, and then all of a sudden the now is far behind me. Snot fair.

Wah wah wah.

Totally know what you mean there, reality!

SPsTombRaidingWithCliff · 24/10/2013 23:10

i was born in '90

Darkesteyes · 25/10/2013 01:43

Im 40 and ive noticed this more and more over the last five years. Especially when it comes to parts on tv for women.
There should be more older women playing the romantic lead or a strong lead character in a crime thriller IMO

out2lunch · 25/10/2013 01:58

my son was born in 94

my son

so scary

Alisvolatpropiis · 25/10/2013 06:38

Going to bars and it being full of people born in 1995 is an awful feeling.

ArabellaPilkington · 25/10/2013 06:48

It too will pass. Get to a certain age and see the yoofs and think "Aww" and pat them on the head, patronisingly.

bubalou · 25/10/2013 07:43

Same here and I'm 27!

It's the same for going out. I went into town for a few drinks last weeks and felt old as fuck!

Everyone around me was almost 10 years younger.

I refuse to get older! Shock
