To think if you're told to ask for the "appointments clerk"

You should bloody well be able to speak to one.

I got a letter for a follow up medical appointment. When I was at my initial appointment I was asked if there was any time I couldn't do - I told them and, of course, I've been given an appointment when we're away.

The letter says to ring and let them know. I've been trying for the past month. Different times of day, more than once a day EVERY FUCKING DAY. Ive called direct, I've called reception and asked to be put through and it rings and rings. Never any facility to leave a message

Then you get to the snotty bit of the letter that says "if you're not able to attend the appointment and don't let us know you'll be returned to the care of your GP"

How the fuck can I let them know if no-one answers the fucking phone.

i agree it is very furstrating

Thanks rubyslippers - good idea I'll give that a try.

I KNOW they're busy and stretched but just have a bloody answer machine!

Can you go in person?

rubyslippers · 23/10/2013 10:03

i had a real issue with a hospital - appts always being changed and cancelled

PALS were really helpful

i can't just pop into the hospital - work FT and it is 12 miles away

a simple answerphone is such an obvious solution

sunbathe · 23/10/2013 10:05

Send a text to the direct line? Should retry until someone answers, I think?

Fleta · 23/10/2013 10:06

Ah sunbathe thank you, I didn't know that!

msrisotto - I queried at the main reception whether I could but was told "the office isn't manned full time so you can't guarantee you'd be able to see anyone"
