So I have put up with months of constant pain due to ligament damage during pregnancy and after the birth of my dc, I have had 3 days of very little pain and now I've got fucking toothache!
No pain killers will touch it. It's 2:30 in the morning I have to be up early to take dc to the doctors and I am awake and crying in pain. This is truly unfair.
I don't even know if the dentist will see me tomorrow as I've not been with the surgery long and this has never happened before.
I am so pissed off!

Your dentist should see you! I think, as this is the case with my dentist, that they hold back a certain amount of time slots for emergencies and I'm pretty sure that with the pain your having, you will fall in that category. I hope you feel better soon- pain is not a good thing- especially when you have a little baby in tow (& coz it's nearly 3 in the morning lol)! Xx

Don't know what you've been using but ibuprofen 2 x 400mg tablet (from behind the counter at boots/pharmacies) is the only thing that works for me when i have toothache - well, depending on the level of pain and that sounds like a serious enough one. Soluble voltarol or a decent whack of codiene (co codamol at a push but best to leave out the paracetamol) works OK too - paracetamol does piss all for toothache. Hope you're ok soon

Have a had a lot of recent trouble with my teeth so very recent experience... ouch. Feel for you

if you are in pain they have to see you!!
i had an abscess last month and they saw me straight away and prescribed antibiotics, it was the worst few days until they kicked in!! i was drugged up to my eyeballs!!
good luck hope its gets sorted!

Have taken voltarol and co codamol an it's done nothing, well it must have done a little bit as I'm not crying. But still too sore to sleep. I'm glad that its a possibility I might be seen tomorrow, I've never had to do it before. So had no idea.
I think I'm more angry that I thought I was over the constant pain then get this!
Baby will be waking up in a few hours , really need to try and sleep. Sitting on the couch I can hear DH snoring, luckily the baby sleeps thru anything.

Hope you managed some sleep. I've had a dental abscess behind wisdom tooth and it was misery. Clove oil on a cotton bud any good? Or a hot flannel to your cheek. I couldn't get in with dentist and went to doctors in the end, they prescribed me antibiotics which worked really quickly. Hope you feel better soon.

Mrsmorton · 23/10/2013 06:27

newlywed that's not true. If they've got an appointment then they can see you. Patients I see at my ooh clinic have been waiting up to two weeks to be seen when they are in pain by their own dentist.
Some PCTs don't class pain as an emergency either...

OP the best thing you can do is call your dentist first them and hopefully be as flexible as possible although it sounds like it might be a tough day for you.

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 23/10/2013 09:11

Phoned at 9, appointment at 11, I've had about 3 hrs sleep.
Must get ready and baby ready, it's going to be a long day. Thanks for support

Hope they fix you lol xxx

Oh the pain has gone, I am so happy. Face numb and referral for wisdom teeth to be ripped out ASAP as that was the problem apparently with the pain radiating across my mouth.
