To make dd get the train?

Dd1 is 12.5 and a passionate dancer. She already does quite a few classes a week plus dances in various youth ballet productions during the year.

She would like to go to associate classes at a well renowned dance school which is about 40 minutes from home. These classes would be Saturdays. Whilst I'm happy to ferry her about during the week (very local) and for the youth ballet rehearsals (further away but short term), these Saturday classes are ongoing and I don't want to spend Saturdays driving her. And I want to have time with my 2 other dds.

However the classes are of a high standard and I know she'd really benefit. She actually got a place a few years ago but we had to turn it down due to the timing of the classes. Now the timing is more do-able and she's been patient.

The train line near the school is very close to our home so I had the idea that she could go to and from herself and Im happy to take her to and from the station. The only problem is the station at the other end is not walkable to the school but there is a reliable taxi service or someone could drop her at the station once she gets to know the other girls.

Do you think this sounds ok? She's 12.5 btw and is used to going to and from school herself.

Personally I would say that this is fine, I was travelling across the city to school at 11 and as long as dd is fairly streetwise there should be no problem. Just make sure she has appropriate contact numbers and extra money just in case. Hopefully it will give her a chance at independence and she will appreciate it!

I would probably do the journey once with her and then let her choose whether she wants to do it by herself or not take up the place.

It does sound expensive though - the class, the train, the taxi
But otherwise fine
