But it's a residential street and one house has been turned into a business. And now the business wants to expand to cater for more children. If I was a neighbour I'd say absolutely not if I was asked. These houses are people's homes.

Yes, but when the siblings move on it is still a 14 place nursery with 14 potential cars plus staff cars. It worries me too that outdoor play is "educational" & restricted - kids need to let off steam!

Don't forget that when the 14 places are refilled those children will again have younger siblings: this same argument can be used to make the nursery a 28 or 56 place nursery.

There is a 28 place nursery on a similar road quite close to me. The staff park in the front drive so only parents park in the road. I don't think I've ever seen more than 4 parents' cars there. It's usually only 1 or 2.

If you have a specific session start time you ask them to arrive I guess more cars would be together but, if arrival times are staggered, I can't imagine there being a problem.

The children are allowed free access to the garden but they rarely make a noise that can be heard outside the garden, babies crying occasionally is about the loudest it gets.

The neighbours' objections have to be reasonable so you may still get permission.

I think i haven't explained about the garden use very well. What I mean is, they don't go outside and run riot. Yes they do running and jumping, look at flowers and bugs, dig kn the mud etc.... that's educational, they generally free flow in between the garden and thenhouse which makes their play much calmer. They don't play in the garden in the way that school children would, they aren't cooped up all day and chomping at the bit to be freed.

Also we go out (like out out, to a museum or the zoo etc) at least 3 mornings a week (usually 5 but a week of rain can mean only 3) and then most nap in the afternoon. The garden is mainly used in the PM and on sunny days we stay home with the paddling pool. They are rarely out in the garden all day everyday and they dont make a racket was supposed to be my point.

The twitter storm was supposed to be able helping finding us a new premises not trying to get the council to change their minds.

Ps. We don't want to appeal as the neighbors clearly don't want us here.

This happened to a friend of mine. Lots of daytime noise, but the main issue was continual parking problems, slamming doors, parking across her driveway etc. It escalated to quite an issue between herself and the owners and she ended up selling her house.

I know it was an ongoing problem because the owners bought another property which was detached and away from other houses. Although they now provided parking, people still parked on the road as they are keen to make a quicky getaway to work.

I think it was badly managed by the nursery owners to be honest. It was a quiet residential area and residents simply didn't expect someone to set up a busy business there. I think there were around 26 children.

If the nursery was in situ when a property was bought, then it has to be accepted. However, when it is a new business setting up that is different and you are right to be wary. Do check out the full details and be aware 14 is a starting number and it is more than likely it will expand as business grows.

I think I know who you are talking about.

It sounds like a nice nursery from your description OP
