I recently got told on a thread that my nickname suggests I wouldn't offer sympathy to fellow MNers. How do you think people perceive your name as reflecting your posting style, and do you think I should change mine?

OP posts:
MyBaby1day · 21/10/2013 08:13

It says I will have my baby one day and I will (via adoption) Smile. Love my MN username!.

Suzieismyname · 21/10/2013 08:24

That I'm called Suzie... I'm not!

KCumberSandwich · 21/10/2013 08:33

That i like sandwiches, and Benedict Cumberbatch -and woukd like a benedict cumberbatch sandwich-

waikikamookau · 21/10/2013 08:59

that I am a vegetarian

NynaevesSister · 21/10/2013 09:18

I would have said kiwi! Did you live in NZ for a while or know someone who did?

waikikamookau · 21/10/2013 09:21

no, no kiwi's. just I thought it was a clever name, and it the same for a vegetarian restaurant in Brighton.
but I certainly don't mind the new Zealand connotations. Grin

waikikamookau · 21/10/2013 09:21

name of a restaurent

InMySpareTime · 21/10/2013 09:34

That I'm busy!
I get a surprising amount done in my "spare" time (odd 5 minutes here and there), I can even put a wash on, make dinner and sort out sport kit/homework while MNing.
Username implication is that I can probably offer you advice at some point, it might not be timely or in-depth, but I like to help if I can.

Balaboosta · 21/10/2013 09:46

Mine means "ruler of the domestic domain" or matriarch in Yiddish! When i picked it, i was concerned that, like yours, it sounds a little combative but then I am often a bit - er - direct so nothing wrong with that I reckon! Don't go changing.

KhunZhoop · 21/10/2013 09:49

My name is a reflection of what I think mumsnet actually is.

HorryIsUpduffed · 21/10/2013 10:04

I am an occasional name changer who keeps a theme (the Horry bit, the lead in a book I like which was our book club book the week I needed a swift nc for outing reasons). To follow the theme you need to have read the book as she is aristocratic so uses several. I have some others in the theme saved for future use.

I nced to this as a not-very-subtle BFP announcement in a quiche.

So it looks like I'm pgy-obsessed whereas actually I'm too superstitious to remove the pgy reference until I'm not pg any more (am term now).

It also means people assume I am hormonal/irrational (probably true) and give me the benefit of the doubt.

The nn I nc from, which I loved, was more combative and I definitely got different responses to the same opinions.

HorseyGirl1 · 21/10/2013 12:19

Probaby that I'm a posh gal that owns many horses - not a one in fact - it was my late dad's nickname for me when I was wee and horse-mad.

MarmaladeBatkins · 21/10/2013 12:22

That I am effing marvellous.

And you'd all be right.

TheBigJessie · 21/10/2013 13:11

Ooooooooh...

However, it turns out I'd overly complicated TheJoyfulPuddlejumper's name. I thought it was a Stargate Atlantis reference!

TheBigJessie · 21/10/2013 13:20

I suppose my name suggests that I am large but disproportionately timid.

Or simply a large Jessica.

I'm more medium-sized, and I heard the phrase once, and thought it was funny.

Plus, I really wished I'd been called Jessica as a child.

twoboysundertwo · 21/10/2013 13:35

that I'm a crazy bitch who had 2 children within one year...

GruffBillyGoat · 21/10/2013 14:10

That I'm cranky and my nickname is Bill.

TheKnightsWhoSayNi · 21/10/2013 14:43

That I am the keeper of the ancient and powerful word - "Ni!"

And I like to scare old people by mercilessly saying "Ni!" at them.

TheKnightsWhoSayNi · 21/10/2013 14:58

I guess it says that I have a childish sense of humour, but am clearly old enough to remember Monty Python?

Should I name change? I always go with a comical name. But then, I'm not the most comical of posters.

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 21/10/2013 15:02

that I spend too much money at a particular store

2tired4internets · 21/10/2013 15:06

Ni! Don't change it!

I recently changed to this because it is the truth. Please forgive my sloppy posts I'm too internet addicted to log out.

JackShit · 21/10/2013 15:23

Nothing Grin

2tiredtocare · 21/10/2013 15:28

Now our nicknames are very similar 2tired hope you don't have any inflammatory views that could be mistaken for mine!

2tired4internets · 21/10/2013 15:32

Err same!

2tired4internets · 21/10/2013 15:35

Anyway when I changed I hadn't see you nickname before but I'm sure people will be able to tell us apart!
