Kinder Surprise are now coloured 'pink' for fashion dolls and 'blue' for racing cars! I don't give a shit that this is 'for a limited time', AIBU to think this is appalling gender stereotyping? FWIW, ds1 loves pink but also loves racing cars, so maybe I'm biased?

There have been many threads about this.

I like the colour coding, dd loves the pink and DS loves the blue ones.

At 85p I love knowing they are going to get a toy they will like.

Sorry, I've obviously missed all the other threads...

YANBU. Sexist plastic shite, whatever next.

space21 · 19/10/2013 20:05

But they do this at Macdonalds too if you have happy meals. I would much rather my son get a car to play with while I scoff my burger ( and his chicken nuggets!!)

mrspremise · 19/10/2013 20:08

Space, glad it's not just me that ends up doing that Grin

Mind you, I don't recall ever being offered 'gender-specific' choices at McD's

A boy can buy a pink kinder egg and a girl can buy a blue one.

DropYourSword · 19/10/2013 21:07

McD`s always did gender specific.

Alisvolatpropiis · 19/10/2013 22:44

It's a temporary thing.

I really don't see it as a big deal- if your child, regardless of gender, prefers fairy or car toys then buy the blue/pink egg accordingly.

Will be back to normal soon enough.

Alisvolatpropiis · 19/10/2013 22:46

I remember gender specific McD's toys. For years they did teeny tiny Barbies for girls and something else for the boys. I don't remember because I was a barbie obsessed terror as a child. One was green and wore yellow rollerblades I recall (no idea why).

RagamuffinAndFidget · 19/10/2013 22:50

Kinder eggs cost 85p now?!

pigsDOfly · 19/10/2013 22:54

Kinder eggs have never been any good since they stopped putting in the clever little toys that had to be assemble (long time ago, I know).

Ds hasn't realised that the colours relate to gender yet. He is equally happy with a car or a my little pony though.

NotQuiteWithItAtAll · 19/10/2013 23:11

My DD loves the blue ones. Motorbikes, cars etc. Its not written on the packet for boys only. They are just colours you know.

Alisvolatpropiis · 19/10/2013 23:18

pigs

That was what they were like in my day! Used to frustrate my Dad so much. Grin

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 19/10/2013 23:32

DS loves the ones you can build.
