COME ON MNHQ - i know the site revenue comes from advertising but a company that produces processed meats and has possibly the worst animal welfare record in the country is certainly no champion of mine! It pisses me off every time i see it.

I hate Bernard Mathews, too LEM (wtf is turkey ham?), but have never seen this banner? Have only just come back on MN after about 2 yrs, do they tailor adds on here like they do on fb?

ICameOnTheJitney · 19/10/2013 09:15

Well said LEM it's a stupid ad to present here!

TEErickOrTEEreat · 19/10/2013 09:16

I haven't seen that one either. Would put me right off.

Are you sure it's an actual MN ad and not just part of their Ad Choices roll?

LoonvanBoon · 19/10/2013 09:20

I hate all Bernard Matthews adverts, wherever they are. Have often been surprised to find them in food magazines which champion free range meat & poultry & then accept adverts for this shit. Bernard Matthews himself is dead now, isn't he, so at least he doesn't appear in the ads any more - I remember him being on TV back in the '80s calling his products "bootiful" - that was particularly vile. Also hate adverts that talk about "mums" in this way - loved by mums, recommended by mums, etc. etc. - for some reason find this very irritating.

LEMisdisappointed · 19/10/2013 09:32

For me, its the banner at the top of the page - it always seems to be there when i first log on to "threadss im on" and "active convos" it tends to be pregnancy related stuff elsewhere. So i assume it wouldn't be the sort of ads that you see that are based on what you look at - if that were the case it would be property porn and shoes Grin

Yup I just got it too. Offering me meal ideas or some such nonsense. Hmm as if I'd buy their stuff.

CosmicDespot · 19/10/2013 09:39

I hate it too. I can't think of anything on my browsing history that would make it appear specifically for me, and the banner never seems to have any relevance to me at all anyway.

LEMisdisappointed · 19/10/2013 09:42

I have actively boycotted anything to do with BM for years, especially after a news report that leaked the fact that the workers were caught playing tennis with the live chicks that were being discarded. This was proven, i think, i can't remember when it was, its a while back but i vowed i would never touch their food again. Which isn't difficult because its shite.

OP posts:
CosmicDespot · 19/10/2013 09:51

They're not exactly reputable are they? I haven't eaten BM's mushed-up shite since I left home 18 years ago. My DM used to think it was meat and serve it as part of a Sunday roast.

Cupcake1985 · 19/10/2013 09:55

It's an awful company tainted by that horrible story a long time ago. I certainly would never buy their products.

marfisa · 19/10/2013 09:56

I fully agree OP. Maybe post this in Site stuff?

marfisa · 19/10/2013 10:00

The article here gives what seems quite a reasoned summary of the problems with Bernard Matthews.

StanleyLambchop · 19/10/2013 10:02

I have got Family & Friends rail card & a Pantene advert. So being spared the BM ad!

LEMisdisappointed · 19/10/2013 10:03

Thanks for the link - its sobering reading :(

I have an ad for a hotel in Dubai that I can't afford.

NationMcKinley · 19/10/2013 10:09

200 hours community service for playing baseball with live turkeys??? FFS. Bastards. AngrySad

TEErickOrTEEreat · 19/10/2013 10:22

LEM perhaps report this thread to HQ? They won't see it otherwise.

LEMisdisappointed · 19/10/2013 10:28

I don't imagine for one minute that they would pull the advert though. Not unless we all threatened to feed our kid on fruit shoot and greg sausage rolls and leave them all at MNHQ for the rest of the weekend!

TEErickOrTEEreat · 19/10/2013 10:41

They have before LEM when people have objected.

Can't hurt to ask!

LEMisdisappointed · 19/10/2013 10:47

i'll try :)

Thanks for flagging this to us LEM - we'll take a deeper look into this, in the meantime, if you (or anyone else on the thread), managed to grab a screenshot, it'd be helpful if you could send it to [email protected]

TEErickOrTEEreat · 19/10/2013 15:28

There you go LEM!

::not saying I told you so really I'm not::

CreepyLittleBat · 19/10/2013 15:43

The other day I got an ad headed 'for men only' - some online game about large breasted female pirates, by the look of it. Confused

LEMisdisappointed · 19/10/2013 15:46

how do you do the screen shot thing kate?

OP posts:
Auntidote · 19/10/2013 15:48

Get Adblock then you won't be troubled with any annoying adverts.
