It's an infestation of the spotty buggers, and my spiders are all sitting about like pious Arachnid Weight Watchers fasters. Meanwhile, my children, who might have the temperament for the work, can't climb the walls!

But, but, ladybirds are pretty - and eat all the fecking aphids!

TiggyD · 18/10/2013 20:56

Ladybirds good. Spiders bad.

hiddenhome · 18/10/2013 20:56

Why don't you like the ladybirds? They don't do any harm and they eat greenfly and other pests.

Invertebrates can't win can they? Hmm

Salmotrutta · 18/10/2013 20:58

Ladybirds are great for the plants!

Shocking that you think they are pests Shock

southeastastra · 18/10/2013 21:00

we have weirdy ladybirds this year, odd colours

eatyouwithaspoon · 18/10/2013 21:03

TiggyD is correct. Grin

ScarletLady02 · 18/10/2013 21:03

What's wrong with ladybirds?

hiddenhome · 18/10/2013 21:08

Spiders consume pests too.

BrunelsBigHat · 18/10/2013 21:10

Spiders dont eat ladybirds

But ladybirds do eat aphids.

YABU to want rid of ladybirds

Beehatch · 18/10/2013 21:10

Ladybirds can bite, especially the Furrin orangey ones. Some people can have quite severe reactions to them. Beware!

ohmymimi · 18/10/2013 21:11

Excuse me, ladybirds good, spiders good (but if they are False Widows remove with care).

TippiShagpile · 18/10/2013 21:13

Weird coloured ladybirds are forrin and aggressive and bad news. They eat home grown ladybirds. Bit like the grey/red squirrel thing.

Footface · 18/10/2013 21:19

I reckon I must have evicted about 150 ladybird from my celing this week

ScarletLady02 · 18/10/2013 21:20

Has anyone else seen an inordinate amount of big green grasshoppers this year? I've had to get loads out of the house!

sheldor · 18/10/2013 21:22

Awww i love ladybirds. We seems to be getting beautiful little bright yellow ones at the moment Smile

RenterNomad · 18/10/2013 21:23

Thank you, Beehatch. The Harlequin ladybirds are decimating "native" ladybirds, a bit like grey squirrels going for native red ones, though disease or biting.

They can also bite people if hungry: the larvae outside or beetles inside the home.

I just want my spiders to eat them! I like my spiders and think they deserve a nice, crunchy snack! Smile

Ugh tell my house spiders to take care of the fucking fruit fly commune taking residence. I've left the buggers in their webs for this specific purpose. Apparently I am lodging finicky eaters Angry

RenterNomad · 18/10/2013 21:28

Sorry, TippiShagpile. I cross-posted while dawdling about sites about "invasive species" (just the thing to do on a Friday night, with wine!)
