Here's my previous thread. Had trouble finding a car seat adapter, finally posted here on Chat and another lovely mumsnetter pointed me to a shop whose website that said they had some in stock.

This was Monday. Today I'm told they don't have any - despite the website showing them in stock, despite them taking money from my card for both the product and a one day delivery service.

I am in the US and my mum is flying over next week, supposedly with the adapter that I can't find here. I'm now going to have to spend this weekend, my last before a c-section next week, buying another car seat that I can get adapters for here. Not quite what I wanted to do...

Livid? You need to chill out.

ljny · 18/10/2013 13:24

No idea why you need to chill out, Wobbly.

Just go drop a few hundred dollars on a new carseat. Hey, it's just money. And such fun waddling round the shops at nine months' pregnant. What's your problem?

Wibblypiglikesbananas · 18/10/2013 18:12

Thanks LJNY.

Going to ask for this to be removed as clearly some people think it's nice to bait someone who is genuinely in distress. It's sad really as the people on my original thread were lovely and helpful. AIBU is a minefield at times and there are some very nasty, spiteful people about. Guess it says more about them than genuine OPs though?

Umm this isn't really the sort of thing that people usually put in AIBU which is why I think you're getting a bad response.

Sorry for the issues you're having. Can you not simply change the seat you have at the shop you bought it at?

Don't take the whole weekend to decide either. The baby uses the seat for 12-18 months which passes v quickly. The sfaety of all of them is much of a much muchness really. What varies is how easy they are for you to fit. Go to shop, pick assistant who looks old enough to have own dc and say 'which one would you/did you buy'. Check you can lift it and pay for it! Leave shop. When you're pregnant things - anything - to do with the baby seems such a big deal but this is really a simple shopping trip that you can do in less than an hour giving plenty of time for lovely things to do Smile

Wibblypiglikesbananas · 18/10/2013 18:28

Thank you Northern - the slight problem is I have the Atlantic between me and the shop where I bought the car seat (was DD's 2 yrs ago, fine to use here) so that's not an option. I was highlighting the poor customer service by posting here, which is pretty common on AIBU from what I've read.

The frustrating thing is I've had so much email contact with P&T's, they've been getting the adapters in for months now and I was just so relieved to have finally found one. For the shop to then take my cash, wait a week to tell me they don't have any in stock and then leave me with less than a week to source another one just adds insult to injury.

Anyway, won't type more as have asked for this to be taken down.

Genuine distress? Oh come on!

You'll probably find it easier to lift the babies into the pram than transfer car seats anyway

Spirulina · 18/10/2013 18:32

don't think MN remove threads that easily! good luck with it all tho

Lorelailovesluke · 18/10/2013 18:36

Have I missed a chunk of this thread? There were 3 responses and you wanted the thread taken down?

CharityFunDay · 18/10/2013 18:42

"Genuine distress"? Hmm

OK, so 'waddling round the shops' is something you could do without, but I think you're getting a bit hot and bothered over not very much.

This may have been suggested before, so shoot me down if I'm repeating, but could your mum pick one up in the UK and bring it with her? Or is that not possible?

Incidentally, your last post on that thread was: "Thank you Chairman - I do have a bassinet so maybe that will tide us over."

Hopefully, the bassinet will suffice.

Spirulina · 18/10/2013 18:45

cant you get your DH to do the waddling round shops bit?

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 18/10/2013 18:49

Im confused, is the adapter to make it fit in the car, or to make it fit on the pushchair?

FannyFifer · 18/10/2013 18:51

Can someone not just post the adapters over for you?

I would happily do it if it stopped you having the RAGE. Grin

FannyFifer · 18/10/2013 18:54

There are several on eBay, various different Phil & Tess adaptors.

FannyFifer · 18/10/2013 18:54

teds

FrogsGoWhat · 18/10/2013 19:09

Actually, you might be better off buying a new car seat as I believe the USA has different regulations so yours might not be legal there....

ChessieFL · 18/10/2013 19:39

I read LJNY's post as agreeing with you but doing it in a sarcastic way. A bit tongue in cheek.

However, I do agree with other posters that 'livid' is a bit much. Annoyed, yes.

MissMooMoo · 18/10/2013 20:09

seats in the UK don't have chest clips which is a requirement by law in the USA. are you sure your seat is legal to use there?

CrohnicallyLurking · 18/10/2013 20:10

Calm down! Your mum's bringing some adapters next weekend? And you're having a c section next week? Well, if you feel anything like I did, it'll be day 3 before you're released from hospital and day 4 before you step foot out of your front door, you can easily wait till your mum brings the adapters before you use the car seat on your pushchair, especially if you have the carrycot and can use that for your first walk.

ChessieFL · 18/10/2013 20:13

I think the problem is that the mum isn't bringing the adaptors - because they are out of stock on this website.

Footface · 18/10/2013 20:24

eBay have them
