She has a great figure, is very beautiful, has great hair (I want her hair!), is intelligent and erudite.

So why the need to squeeze her boobs so up and in that she could rest her chin on them? Just watched 8 out of 10 Cats and she was shoehorned into a top that had them practically falling out and the make up job on them was none too subtle.

Be proud of your boobs, I love mine! But dont be defined by them!

Personally if half the men on tv took as good care of themselves as CV then i'd welcome the sight of their exfoliated, tanned chests on tv.

Women don't need men to oppress them & put them down - you seem more than happy to do it yourselves!!

And yes, that may come across as a misogynistic view - but have a re-read of some of the bile posted above & tell me it's not true.

She's got a technical background, she got famous for her brains before her looks, she's in a lot of interesting, funny & often educational media.

But for the crime of dressing how she likes, with as much or as little on display as she likes you're all ripping into her.

"She deserves it if she dresses like that" - who else uses that excuse eh??

You can have an interest in engineering and shiny hair
of course you can but we were not talking about her hair...
there is nothing wrong with looking good, wearing pretty clothes etc., but the fact is that her dresses do not fit her and she has her breasts more or less on show. that does not mean that 'a burka' is the alternative - why are people so extreme?

HighBrows · 16/10/2013 10:47

Yes I do feel breast should be put away that is my opinion however if someone wants them out fine, let it all hang out but it's rarely a good look.

Yes I know Joe Swash is his real name but he acts like a caricature....

why did I click into this topic first, why?

Well said Daves

And yet one of the most important thing we try to teach our children is that looks don't matter....

Like I said, it's weird.

Off the point a bit, but is a third from Cambridge a 'good degree'? The Cambridge and the engineering bit obviously is ... but a third?
I think if I'd got that, after the massive achievement of getting into Cambridge in the first place, a third would be pretty disappointing.

Maybe CV is acting like a cariacture? Maybe she's completely ripping the piss or conducting an experiment. Is it ok to show your chest if your pretending to be something else? Why? Its still your same chest. Your skin.

Actually, OP was. I don't know why it's acceptable to admire someone's hair yet slag her off for showing off her tits though.

Report
WorraLiberty · 16/10/2013 10:56

And can we just get this right?

She didn't get her tits out, otherwise it would have been edited out of the show.

She wore an outfit that showed a lot of cleavage.

It was always about her looks. She got the Countdown job after replying to an ad stating 'brains and beauty wanted'. As an intelligent woman I am sure she is well aware of that. Hence the hooked up bosom.

I think its time the law was made equal for men and women in regard to showing their top half. I'd be very interested to see what would happen if it was made legal for women to show breasts ( my guess is after the initial surge of boobs out- we would actually see less of them as there would be no boundary to test or shock reaction to get) OR if it was made illegal for men to show bare chests ( my guess would be men wearing more revealing tops because they've been told they cant. Level the playing field before you start comparing how men and women dress.

I reckon she's smart enough to decide what to wear.

Yy to the sharia law comparisons Worra. The Miss World coverage this year had some very similar views from some groups who would claim to be at odds. Freedom from seems to be preffered to freedom to.

You're right Davesdog, how you dress shouldn't make you a deserving victim.

Her look is just sooooo boring now, the same kind of ultra tight / bandage type / low cut / structured dress. And always looking like she is wearing everything a size too small.

I winced when I saw her on 8/10 cats last night for the very reason mentioned above. She looked half naked and no one else did. There are plenty of other dresses / styles that would flatter her shape and boobs which has obviously worked hard for / paid lots for.

Fine if she wants to make the most of what she has, but she has been wearing the same type of dresses for years now! I think she needs to invest in a stylist! Or change the one she has!!!

Do men feel the need to look good on tv?

Do you watch tv at all?

Report
coldwinter · 16/10/2013 11:06

Anyone on TV tends to look presentable. But there are a lot of men on tv that aren't that good looking and just wear ordinary jumpers and jeans.

DavesDadsDogDiedDiabolically · 16/10/2013 11:07

I watch TV but, funnily enough, I never notice what people are wearing.

Silly old me, I tend to listen to what they're saying & if it's no good I change channel or switch off.

If I want to look at tits I'll get some porn up, otherwise I'm there to manipulate my brain....

I think she looks good. Great in fact. People slagging her off are just being bitchy for whatever reason.

There's pressure on us to do lots of things. Have a nice car, buy the kids a fuck load of stuff for Christmas, breastfeed, earn loads of money, have a big knob, be witty at parties.

No one but women are assumed to be so fucking stupid that we can't look at the pressures and make a decision about what we want after rational thought.

Make every woman cover up or put a man in a dress, whatever.

I am an engineer by profession and I wear low cut tops and am a shallow bastard. Not Oxbridge but better than a third so boo yah.

Frankly though I can't forgive Carol V for that Zou Bisou Bisou advert because I have been singing that around the house for 3 days now and it is sending me mad.

Her dresses always look SO UNCOMFORTABLE. She must feel like a stuffed sausage.

She would look better if she didn't insist on wearing clothes that are shrink wrapped. She is beautiful with a great figure. I think you would be able to see that anyway.

I have a similar problem with Rachel Riley and her 'cute' dresses. Feeling stabby now...

LeGavrOrf · 16/10/2013 11:13

She is in a bit of a style rut I think. You can't go round wearing versions of the Roland Mouret galaxy dress forever.

It would be interesting to see her in a dirndl skirt. Or a loose pair of trousers and a shirt. Instead of being trussed.

But fuck It, she obviously likes how she looks and she looks a lot more confident than she used to when she was half the age she is now.
