To have tried to force my toddler to be sick!!

My 3 year old says she had a penny in her mouth Then it went in her tummy??!!!
First thought she made it up then panicked tried to make her sick and it didn't work

She is ok not sickor anything, playing as usual. What do I do??!

she isn't chocking, she's fine - stop panicking

If its gone down, then making her sick is more likely to cause problems if she brings it back up and it gets lodged.

Since you think it's well down what you should do is go on poo watch for a few days to await it's exit. If it doesn't appear, then you could go to docs (if she's still adamant that it was swallowed).

Definitely don't make her sick! Can you phone out of hours for advice? They may suggest you bring her in or just recommended you keep an eye on her.

Never try and make a child sick!
Take her to accident and emergency. They will probably do an X ray to see where it is. You will have to sift her poo for a couple of days to see if she passes it. Most of the time, it causes no further problems. Stomach is full of acid which will kill some bacteria etc

Ds swallowed a 5p coin, I rang nhs direct they told me to take him to a and e. They metal detectored him and because it was in his stomach they sent us home.

Take her to a and e just incase (and its highly unlikely) it is in a postion where it could get stuck and cause problems. They will probably just do an x ray and then send you home to poo watch

Call nhs direct as I think the advice is to get x rayed to make sure it went down far enough and can't be coughed back up again.

Jesus thank god she wasnt sick, she could have choked. She will just poo it out hopefully. Call nhs direct to make sure

Oh and OP never try and force a child to be sick unless a doctor tells you to!

Do you think a first aid course might be in order?

A&e usually check with a metal detector to see where the item is. If its anywhere dangerous they can sort it out if its in the tummy they can tell you to wait for nature. HTH

Take her to a&e. They will X-ray her to check that it hasn't got stuck. There is one place it can lodge itself. Mostly they just pass through fine though.

It's not the choking that's the problem. It can lodge itself in her tubes. Can't remember which part though

Both mine have ingested coins..... 1 2p got stuck on the way down and as he was being wheeled off to theatre he projectile vomited and up it came! Ds 2 swallowed a 10p...he was X-rayed to make sure it had reached his stomach, it had so we were told to leave it to its natural course!!
