I've offered the asking price- why hasn't the vendor responded?!?

I'm on tenterhooks and won't be able to sleep tonight till I know her response! The house has only just come on the market and maybe she's hoping for an offer over asking price?? I can't see why else, as we are chain free and have a good deposit! Surely it's not that difficult a decision that she needs a whole day to mull it over??

If the housing market is anything like it is round here (nowhere near London, btw), the agents are probably showing to loads more people hoping to provoke a bidding war.

I had an offer accepted on a house recently, and went in over the asking price to persuade them to stop the viewings right away. Crazy, I know.

When I recently put an offer in the two men were out of the office and the women weren't allowed to phone vendors with offers.

Our flat is on the market and the agent doesn't phone us, they write a letter giving us a written offer. We don't get offered that day but get it next day. Could that be happening with you.

You're in a strong position and have offered the asking price. Theyre being greedy hoping to get more. I would go back to the agent tomorrow and say that if you don't hear from them today you're going to offer on another house
