My colleaugue was telling me about a cleaner in a school where she worked who became deputy head as she was shagging the head . Anyone else know cases like this? Just out of interest!

It might not be bullshit. I do know of one person who took a job as a cleaner in order to be able to apply for a job that was for internal applicants only. A job she was qualified and experienced in.

So it might be something like that.

But even if it was, the job interview would be panel based and the decision down to more than one person.

I know lots of cases of people I know making up totally unbelievable stories.

in the op's case maybe the cleaner already was a teacher? or training to be one?

I think boards of governors tend to have say in such matters. Was she shagging all of them? Sounds incredibly unlikely to me, if not total bollocks, and even if she was shagging the head, you couldn't get to be deputy head without the necessary experience and qualifications because you'd be found out by OFSTED etc

Is it the head who chooses the deputy? I'd thought schools had a board for hiring head and deputy?

My cleaner in school is a qualified teacher from another country who is just waiting for her registration etc and has been cleaning as she settles into the country etc and works up the courage to teach in a foreign language.
