To think that a clothes swap is a swap and I shouldn't be charged?

Some mums at school are organising a clothes swap but they want us to pay a pound for each item we swap (its not for charity).

AIBU to think this is just wrong and that a swap should be just that. Also it shouldn't be advertised as a swap as I have to pay a pound and they get something of mine.

What do you think?

Are they doing it for charity?

nickelbabe · 09/10/2013 16:45

it says not in the OP

queenofthemountains · 09/10/2013 16:46

Not for charity

Is the money raised going to the school or the PTA?

Or are the organising mums keeping it themselves? Paying for a venue or refreshments at the swap?

Leviticus · 09/10/2013 16:48

Ask loudly at the school gates 'so which charity is the money going to?'

GoofyIsACow · 09/10/2013 16:51

Unless we know what the money is for we cannot possibly judge

BrokenSunglasses · 09/10/2013 16:53

Pay a pound to who?

YoureBeingADick · 09/10/2013 17:02

Grin Whoops! Must read properly

irregularegular · 09/10/2013 17:03

Well you don't have to go if you don't want to pay a pound, do you? But it could be worth paying a pound for - and why should they organise it for nothing?

queenofthemountains · 09/10/2013 17:05

Not PTA, I'm assuming it goes to the organisers.
I wouldn't mind if it were for charity or PTA.
Leviticus is right

I ran a book swap once. The idea was people come with a book, swap for another and give a contribution to Macmillan. In reality people came with a pile of books, gave a contribution and left all of them at my house so I had to take them to the charity shop!

Leviticus is right about what? Confused

I wouldnt pay £1 per item to go to organisers but i would if raising money for charity, pta or paying for hall fee or something.

YoureBeingADick · 09/10/2013 17:10

But i think you should really find out rather than assume.
