My mother is laughing at me

Last time I invite her for Christmas!

Yanbu at all! If I could fit it in I'd make them too!

RedHelenB · 08/10/2013 18:50

It is in our household!

JessicaLundge · 08/10/2013 18:50

Your mum is BU. fact.

Nicknamegrief · 08/10/2013 18:51

If you are having beef, then yes.

But then again I can't stand them and we will probably be having duck.

If you are cooking you get to choose.

SkinnybitchWannabe · 08/10/2013 18:51

We have yorkshires at Christmas. They are my ds favourite food so why the hell shouldn't we!!
I couldn't give a crap if other people say no way.

MrsBungle · 08/10/2013 18:51

Yanbu! We certainly never had them as kids but I always make them! We have veggie Xmas dinner so I like as much variety as possible!

bluestar2 · 08/10/2013 18:52

It's fine Mum always put them on but then we had odd balls attending pita brothers every year who didn't eat turkey Shock so she cooked beef too.

JumpingJackSprat · 08/10/2013 18:52

yanbu a roast isnt a roast without them!!

gamerchick · 08/10/2013 18:52

I wouldn't know a dinner without one or three.

cricketballs · 08/10/2013 18:53

NO! Yorkshire puddings are an accompaniment to beef and not turkey! Saying that my nephew demanded yorkshires but also demanded no brussel sprouts the other year...so I put a sprout in a yorkshire for him Grin

WorraLiberty · 08/10/2013 18:53

Of course it is

It's an acceptable part of every roast dinner.

bluestar2 · 08/10/2013 18:53

Should read my mum

ErrolTheDragon · 08/10/2013 18:53

Acceptable? I thought it was required! Grin
And ignore anyone who thinks they only go with beef.

Puffinlover · 08/10/2013 18:54

Noooooooo YANBU!!! We always have Yorkshire puds with Christmas dinner!

sarahandemily · 08/10/2013 18:54

When I was little we used to have them as a starter with gravy. It was the best bit and certainly beats a prawn cocktail

MurderOfBanshees · 08/10/2013 18:54

They are a requirement in this family! Shock

Twattyzombiebollocks · 08/10/2013 18:55

Yabu. It is not an acceptable part, it is an essential part.
If there's roast on the plate there should be Yorkshire pud with it, that's the rules.
Disclaimer, I am in Yorkshire

womma · 08/10/2013 18:55

Any excuse for a Yorkshire pudding works for me

yegodsandlittlefishes · 08/10/2013 18:55

They are supposed to be just for roast beef, but we had them with any roast since I was about 10 and I've continued our family tradition. We also have red wine, because thatbis what we prefer.

BeQuicksieorBeDead · 08/10/2013 18:56

Oh yorkshire pudding, bread sauce, gravy... I wolff be happy with a trough full of that at any time if the year!

SPsTwerkingNineToFive · 08/10/2013 18:56

YANBU

You full them with your mash, meat and parsnip and pick them up to eat. Like a mini meal within a meal. You have to be fast as your mum will shout 'grow up and stop playing with your food'

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 08/10/2013 18:57

Your mum is definitely BU!

I love Yorkshire puds. Who cares what they're supposed to go with? Eat what you like at Christmas!

NettoSuperstar · 08/10/2013 18:57

Always have them here.

DameFellatioNelson · 08/10/2013 18:59

YABVU.

Yorkshire pudding has no place on the traditional Christmas dinner table. You don't (or shouldn't need to) serve stuffing and Yorkshire pudding together and turkey or goose goes with stuffing.

I would laugh at you too.

I will also judge you if you serve the wrong veg with Christmas dinner. You may have any veg you like (within reason, but you may pick from peas, mange tout, sugar snaps, green beans, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli) but only as an addition to sprouts, carrots and parsnips, never instead of.

You are welcome.

PlumpkinPie · 08/10/2013 19:02

I'm irish and Yorkshire Pudding leaves me Confused!
However if you served me christmas dinner with all the trimmings and Yorkshire Pudding I would hoover it up with relish. I have hosted my MIL every christmas since I got married and while my dream christmas dinner would be steak and chips or lasagne (something easy or that could be prepared in advance and not have me slaving all day while MIl gets to play with the kids and all the pressies) I have to follow her traditional christmas day to keep the peace. Despite not being born to the YP I think YANBU to rebel and add your own personal touch to your christmas dinner Grin
