will be released after serving just 4 years in prison for the murder of baby P shes still young enough to go on to have other children, and its a disgrace that what baby P suffered is thought to only carry 4 years punishment

Or some poor bugger who looks vaguely like her will be targeted.

That's true Anais - like the poor sod who had the shit kicked out of him because a bunch of morons decided (mistakenly) that he was Jon Venables.

mrsjay · 08/10/2013 19:40

It wont be long before her face appears on somebodies facebook as this is her

somewherewest · 08/10/2013 19:40

She's already 32, in 10 years she'll likely not even be able to have children any more.

I think there's an argument for keeping her in jail until she has reached that point to be honest. I'm usually quite 'bleeding heart' on justice issues but I haven't a shred of sympathy in this case.

mrsjay · 08/10/2013 19:40

a Man killed himself because he had been mistaken for thomson

Lilka · 08/10/2013 19:41

I fear for any woman who looks vaguely similar to Tracy

All the time sobbing about the child, the poor child and how much they cared. Giving little or no thought to the other children involved

I've read one thread written at the time. Exactly as you describe

Some people care a lot more about themselves than they actually do about the children. All the demands just translate to "What will make me feel better? A name! Who gives a shit whether it hurts the surviving children. It's all about me feeling that justice has been done - even though it has bugger all to do with me and I'm not personally connected to it"

Viviennemary · 08/10/2013 19:46

I must say I don't think somebody like this should be walking the streets freely with access to children of family and friends. Four years is much too short a sentence for a crime of this severity.

MsIngaFewmarbles · 08/10/2013 19:47

I have to admit that aside from the sister who was raped I had no idea at the time that there were any other siblings. I only recently realised when I read the SCR for a uni project. Maybe others didn't know either?

Mintyy · 08/10/2013 19:49

What do you mean Gordy?

Its fairly obvious that most on this thread simply feel that 4 years (or 6 years) is not a long enough sentence.

friday16 · 08/10/2013 19:49

It's also worth pointing out that the failures in the care and child protection system started long ago in the case of Tracey Connelly. Her father was a paedophile and her mother was a drug addict, and she was abused by a man who was, in turn, abused in the Islington children's homes scandals of the 1990s. It clearly doesn't excuse her behaviour, but it might possibly in part explain it. She certainly had no model for non-abusive parenting or relationships.

See here

It would be nice and easy as a moral lesson if naice girls from naice homes took a decision to be evil and were then evil ("I am determined to prove a villain // And hate the idle pleasures of these days."). Reality is a lot messier. Connelly was a savage abuser. But she was, in turn, savagely abused ("Man hands on misery to man // It deepens like a coastal shelf.")

ThePuffyShirt · 08/10/2013 19:50

Having witnessed a shocking pitchfork mob on FB recently regarding the address of a suspected paedophile, I wonder what will happen to this woman whose face & name is known, added to the fact her release is being widely publicised.

AnaisHendricks · 08/10/2013 19:51

Yes, I was thinking of the man who took his own life. It was terrible.

yonisareforever · 08/10/2013 20:08

Baby P was not the only abused child in the house he was the only one who died.

I do not think she has served long enough in jail and I do not think that child abusers etc get long enough in this country.

I am sure I remember the NSPCC also being dismissive of her sentence at the time.

She may be able to have children for well over a decade. I do think forced sterilisation would be appropriate here, she has had her chance of having children.

By the by, genuine question if people are charged with dreadful animal abuse are they allowed to own more animals?

shame

dandydorset · 08/10/2013 20:20

why to those that dont agree with her being sterilzed, why not

just with this individual im not on about the greater debate about others

hope that makes sense

Itsjustafleshwound · 08/10/2013 20:23

Simply because it crosses a line

Varya · 08/10/2013 20:23

Short sentence and a new identity, what more could this person want.

ShakeAndVac · 08/10/2013 20:24

Without looking to check, I think they were all given such short sentences because it wasn't clear who had killed the little lad, or they couldn't prove it was one or other of them.

Who actually CARES who 'did' the final deed? They were all disgusting as each other, whether it be they sat back and let it happen, or the scum that did it.
They were
(Sorry, not picking on your post, just totally sickened at the logic behind that thinking if it is indeed the case.)

dandydorset · 08/10/2013 20:25

what line? seriously interested on peoples views

skylerwhite · 08/10/2013 20:26

dandydorset People have the right to bodily integrity. This means that they should not be subjected to medical procedures against their will.

ShakeAndVac · 08/10/2013 20:28

Simply because it crosses a line

What they did to the poor child crossed an even bigger line. I'd be more concerned about any other babies she could feasibly have in the future, the thought of her having more kids is terrifying.
At least sterilizing her means no other poor little innocent would have the sheer misfortune to be born and possibly condemned to a life of misery,
