To think just fucking do it, and not have to ask/remind every bloody night?

DH.
He bathes the baby each night but without fail I have to ask or remind him to do it because he is Sat on his arse watching tv or in he garage or doing something.

It gets later & the baby gets crabby because he is tired & wants his milk & bed, yet I STILL have to fucking say something.

It's 10 minutes of baby free time for me to sort out the dishes or just sit.

Feel like a nag.

How old is the baby?

If he's old enough where an hour or two isn't vital to his gaining weight, etc., I just wouldn't remind DH and go out for a few hours leaving him to it. Left with a hungry, over-tired baby he has to settle himself will do wonders for his ability to keep an eye on the time in future.

quoteunquote · 07/10/2013 19:12

Go out leave him to it, if he hasn't learnt the lesson that you get the chores out the way then relax yet, then he needs to learn.

WhoNickedMyName · 07/10/2013 19:14

leave him to try and settle the tired crabby baby by himself for a few nights. Resist the urge to step in and take over. He'll soon learn.

Ha great idea, think I will do that. Baby is 9 months. I'm bf so have had a pretty intense relationships with the baby for 9 months. He feeds 2-3 hourly day & night.
I'm tired, & the only thing that settles the little falls is a bf. So he is clinging onto me while I try to get stuff done unless dh takes him for a bath.

Have just joined MUMSNET as a grand mother. Why do so many of you have to swear? It is not the best way to express your feelings and make a sensible contribution to discussion.

It's called venting.
Please feel free to ignore any threads that offend.

CeliaFate · 07/10/2013 19:22

Oh dear. pinknasturtium I fear you will be horrified. There's lots of swearing here. Have you tried Gransnet?

OP - yanbu. Imagine if he had to remind you to do your chores. Hmm

pinknasturtium · 07/10/2013 19:22

You might as well accept that he will always need reminding. You may not like it but you just waste energy in getting mad. The reality is that most men are not as clued into childcare needs as we women would wish. *nfair ? yes of course. who led you to believe that life / parenting was fair. It isn't . So stop getting angry. Get organised

Because it's a well known psychological method for venting. HTH. Why not go elsewhere if it offends. Most parents have a LOT to swear about.

joanofarchitrave · 07/10/2013 19:24

pinknasturtium, as a grandmother with some experience and wisdom to share, would you like to comment on the subject of the thread?

OTTMummA · 07/10/2013 19:24

If you don't like it fuck off over to Gransnet.

CreatureRetorts · 07/10/2013 19:24

If that's the only you get that's not good enough!! Ten minutes? Honestly I'd bathe baby myself and make DH tidy up etc while getting baby to bed super early.

CreatureRetorts · 07/10/2013 19:25

And less of the rudeness to the poster who doesn't like swearing! Childish.

Chippednailvarnish · 07/10/2013 19:25

Tell him to put the fucking baby in the fucking bath and to stop being such a lazy shit.

pinknasturtium · 07/10/2013 19:25

Thank you for your reply re swearing. Or venting. Perfectly well acquainted with every swear word there is just do not think it is necessary.

gobbynorthernbird · 07/10/2013 19:26

Jimi, just keep shouting at the bastard. He'll get the cunting message soon enough.

jimijack · 07/10/2013 19:28

Oh my, I'm laughing allot here. Thanks ladies, you cheer me up so much Grin

DrSeuss · 07/10/2013 19:29

Collect your coat and bag, place the baby on his lap, go out. Spend an hour in a nearby cafe or pub.

elfycat · 07/10/2013 19:29

And now we've had that lecture you can go. YABU is all about robust replies, try elsewhere on the forum.

OP YANBU to expect better attention to the timing of the baths/bedtimes without having to nag. He's an adult and should take a bit of responsibility.

CeliaFate · 07/10/2013 19:31

It's reasonable to ask people not to swear if it's your first time here as a grandmother. Nobody has to be rude.

Also - 10 minute bath is pants. Ours used to be in there for 20 minutes, then another 20 drying and tickling games.

CeliaFate · 07/10/2013 19:31

pinknasturtium try Chat (still lots of swearing though!)
