Has channel 4 lost the plot or am I being a prude?

I've seen a couple of adverts now for an upcoming programme on c4 where couple go into a big box room on a stage (looks like in front of a live audience, but suspect that's staged) to have sex. Then when they are done they emerge to discuss the experience with a panel.

Is it me, or this just fucking odd?

I'm wondering if once the couple has emerged, another man wearing a full face white helmet and leathers takes the woman back in and shows her how it's really done? Enter The Shag.

It will be weird listening to couple's talking about how the act of sex affects them physically and emotionally immediatley afterwards. And couples up and down the UK recognising their own reactions and realising the similarities and differences for them.

With the MN collective doing some hoiking, and muttering "pervs".

I think it will be interesting. Actual real sex.

Forgive me, but can anyone tell me why the box has to be on the set if it is private, sound proofed, opaque and no-one but the sexual partners can see or hear it?

Surely they could just bring the contestants on in dressing gowns and say 'so, you just had sex backstage...'

What will the studio audience and viewers do while they are waiting for the "act" to finish ?

I expect lots of people will watch it though.

Presumably the couple can just have a quick cup of tea but come put pretending they've been tripping the light fantastic since the last ad break?

I'd think the 'box' is a dramatic technique to focus the eye of the audience without showing the sex act itself. If the the audience were just sitting and waiting it wouldn't have the same impact at all, would it?
I'm a bit dubious about it all (esp Mariella's involvement) but I'm willing to give it a go rather than get all British, repressively judgey about her or the show.

Why do we need to watch people in an opaque box have sex? It's like an over 18s version of a futuristic Dr Who.
