Has channel 4 lost the plot or am I being a prude?

I've seen a couple of adverts now for an upcoming programme on c4 where couple go into a big box room on a stage (looks like in front of a live audience, but suspect that's staged) to have sex. Then when they are done they emerge to discuss the experience with a panel.

Is it me, or this just fucking odd?

If they do it wrong, does The Body come in and show them how it's supposed to be done?

valiumredhead · 05/10/2013 13:19

Maybe they get a trial run...

Ilovemyself · 05/10/2013 13:24

It's just a program. Does it really matter.

SPsTwerkingNineToFive · 05/10/2013 13:27

Apparently its part of the 'keep sex real' campaign against porn

Yes because we all have sex on a box on TV

NameyMcChanger · 05/10/2013 13:29

Di we get to stand outside with scorecards ??

Dawndonnaagain · 05/10/2013 13:31

All this 'omg kids have seen porn' is total bollocks. I saw plenty of porn in the 70s and 80s (found my dad's rather hardcore stash plus videos) and I can't say it has made me into some kind of deviant with outrageous expectations.
So why do girls, some as soon as they develop, insist on removing their pubic hair? Because that is what is now seen as the norm, and it comes from the sex industry. Porn is far more degrading and violent than it used to be and many, many teen boys think that this is the norm. Many young girls are abused by boyfriends because they too, think it's the norm. All from the sex industry.

As for the Channel four thing, I heard something on Radio 4 in which Ms Frostrup was interviewed. Studies apparently show couples are more willing to talk about sex immediately after the act. This sort of research has been going on at The Tavistock Centre for years. It's a world renowned, highly respected research centre. Apparently, nothing is seen, or heard.

mrsjay · 05/10/2013 13:31

David Mtchell was on Alan carr last night and apparently the filming for this show was going on in another studio when they were filming Big Fat quiz and there was men wandering about in dressing gowns and erections

Competitive box shagging Confused

phantomnamechanger · 05/10/2013 13:43

ye gods, I have not heard of this - sounds hideous!

bring back "Blind Date" and "Mr & Mrs"

Wahla · 05/10/2013 13:46

Maybe they get a trial run...

And a Simplify; ten mins less foreplay and only one of them has to cum.

KoalaWithAGrudge · 05/10/2013 13:54

They could do Strictly Come Fucking, judges could vote on their technique and then we could text our choices in.

Sparklingbrook · 05/10/2013 13:56

Would that involve a 'Fck Off' to determine who's out Koala*? Grin

CHJR · 05/10/2013 15:28

And what's wrong with being a prude anyway? If this is the alternative?

unobtanium · 05/10/2013 15:30

It's all very scientific though, 'cos of the box

Charlottehere · 05/10/2013 15:31

Eh? No this is a wind up, right?

ouryve · 05/10/2013 15:33

I think I'm too old to find it at all interesting even though i used to find Eurotrash oddly fascinating after a few glasses of something

I'd vote that for quote of the week if it still existed
(boo hiss but that's another story)

I'd go on it. 15 mins in peace with no kids - would we be allowed to take a book and a cup of coffee? Would DH have to be there?

SPBisResisting · 05/10/2013 15:36

Eurorash was interesting! And The Word. Sums up the 90s :o

Pan · 05/10/2013 15:52

As it happens, as odd as it seems, I do know one of the 'contestants' pretty well. And yes, this person is otherwise quite sane and well-adjusted. Really Confused when I discovered this week they were to be on this show.

and yes to being very Hmm at my dahlink Mariella being involved.

KirjavaTheCorpse · 05/10/2013 16:31

Wouldn't get performance jitters? Knowing there're people outside knowing you're doing the dirty and hoping to discuss it with you afterwards?

How odd.

LaurieFairyCake · 05/10/2013 16:34

Grotesque

Like gladiator

Cheap entertainment for the masses

Pan · 05/10/2013 16:53

If I was one of the producers, I'd prob suggest your use of the phrase 'doing the dirty' is something they would be aiming at reducing - that that sort of description is more consistent with the porn industry. Probably.

Alisvolatpropiis · 05/10/2013 16:56

Yanbu

I don't see that is an anymore "real" kind of sex. I don't believe I've ever been recorded in a studio having sex in a box. Has anyone? Hmm

Pan · 05/10/2013 16:57

or at least being ashamed of having sex.
