To object to indecent images on eBay auctions for children's toys?

There are a range of sponsored links on eBay listings (nothing to do with the seller)and some people are complaining that they are finding inappropriate and sometimes indecent images on their listings. Look at what one seller found underneath their listing for a Toy Story character! :
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221275763334?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D221275763334%26_rdc%3D1
I know it's an auction site for adults to buy but is it not reasonable to expect that items for children do not contain indecent images?

Erm not following. It links based on YOUR browsing history? So in my case there's nothing but toy story stuff showing.

eurochick · 02/10/2013 23:58

Heh!

MissMarplesBloomers · 02/10/2013 23:59

Report it to ebay

Lj8893 · 03/10/2013 00:00

Yeah the sponsored links will be relevant to your cookies and browsing history.

sarine1 · 03/10/2013 00:03

Thank you - sorry (or probably not sorry) that the links are not showing.
A number of us can see these inappropriate links at the bottom of this listing (despite having squeaky clean browsing histories IYSWIM) but it's good if it's not showing up for others.

There is a checkbox called 'Convert links automatically'. It's hard to imagine what could be an easier way of making links than ticking that box, yet you chose not to tick it. YABU.

sarine1 · 03/10/2013 00:05

The offending item is an ad for a 'cyber pocket pussy' I haven't clicked on the ad so remain in innocence as to its use....

I get got knows what coming up on a Amazon thanks to googling stuff I shouldn't on here Grin

Do you really believe all your friends have totally sanitised, malware, ad blocked free systems, and delete their cookies daily?

OP posts:
HoneyDragon · 03/10/2013 00:08

Nope. Just googled a couple of pocket pussies then gone back to your link. I'm still getting actual woody rather than latex items for woodies.

Are you sure your friends aren't all pervs? Grin

sarine1 · 03/10/2013 00:14

Sighs.... such an innocent (or maybe just an incompetent) in this cyber world. If the links aren't showing to people then the problem is obviously not what I thought.
Thank you.

Thanks sarine1.

I see the pocket pussy! I am a perv but this device has defintely, definitely not been used for any pervalicious browsing.

TBH I think 'based on your browsing history' is not an adequate excuse anyway. If you are looking at a listing of a pocket pussy, it seems fair enough to show you others. But if you are looking at a dinosaur, I don't see why you should be shown a pocket pussy, even if you, or someone else on the same computer, has previously searched for them.

HoneyDragon · 03/10/2013 00:18

No fair! Why can't I see it?

I'd much prefer a travel fanny popping up on my browser than all the cliff Richard shite I get from clicking in sPs links on here.

McAvity · 03/10/2013 00:19

Is this caused by the appearance of the words 'toy' and 'rex' (possible typo for 'sex') on that page?

HoneyDragon · 03/10/2013 00:21

Do ad bots make spelling mistakes? That would be s good explanation.

kali110 · 03/10/2013 00:31

Agree that i thought it was nrowsing history. Im constantly getting tools i may like and lumberjack jackets thanks to dp

I see pocket lists as a sponsored link at the bottom of the page.
