to want to buy pyjamas that are something other than sugar pink...

or branded with Pepa fucking Pig for 3yo dd?

I'm sorry if the age old whinge about excess pink princessy stuff for girls has already been done to death on here, but I've been looking for some nice inexpensive pyjamas for dd for weeks, and everything, everything is sodding pink. Or branded with TV/Disney characters. Even places that should know better, like M&S.

If dd really wanted pink sequinny princessy shite I would buy it for her, but so far she is immune and I'm damned if I'm going buy this stuff and encourage it.

Once again I have ended up buying boys pyjamas for her, with a nice colourful rocket on, but I shouldn't have to look in the boys' sections to find anything interesting, should I?

Or am I just overreacting? It is just pyjamas after all. I'm not normally particularly militant about this sort of thing, but today it has really annoyed me.

I mostly got boys ones for my DD at that age too. Boots (mini mode) is great for jammies - DS is now in all DD's old ones so they've had a good 4 years use. And the times I've looked in the past (DD now too big for Boots clothing, sob) the girls ones were just as varied as the boys

And yes it has been done to death :o but I don't think you're overreacting - in some stores I end up thinking why is all the stuff aimed at girls pastel pink and yet boys stuff is really varied.

Asda sometimes have some non-pink, non-licensed stuff in. but it's rare.

Sainsburys have got red, purple and green in at the moment for girls.

Sainsbury's have lovely "girls" ones. 2 in a pack for £10. DDs are red and royal blue with cats on. They have plenty of other non pink ones.

Her brother is two years older and so she has the dinosaur ones that he's outgrown and loves them too.

Grin One of my (boy) dts loves pink fluffy clothes and we have to scour through the girls section till we find something he likes.

Boots - thanks for that tip I hadn't thought of looking there. I have looked in Next and not seen those ones linked to, they must be just online, so thanks for that. In our local store it was the usual vomit-inducing sea of sugar pink.

I know there's a bit of pink here - but saw these in Matalan yesterday and thought they were lovely. Unlike the pjs from previous seasons that have either been polyester or a poly/cotton mix, these are 100p/c cotton.

I often get given mismatching hand me downs and have to put a t shirt with the bottoms or vice versa.

Perhaps you could buy separates to put together? After all,PJ's are just a top and some bottoms.

Also good in that there are times when more bottoms are needed than tops.

Will check out Sainsbury's too - again it was all pink when I looked but that was a couple of weeks ago.

PollyPumpkin my 16mo ds loves pink princessy stuff too! That's fine by me - I just don't want my daughter indoctrinated when she is so far not interested!

I have to admit that even when they have matching pj's they don't often wear the correct bits together soon. There is a pile of night stuff and it's up for grabs - so long as it's clean(ish),it's fine by me!

DDs had ASDA dinosaurs years ago,

M&S really should know better, Hello kitty on everything. Even stuff for older DDs who aren't faintly interested.

Non pink, grey or miserable beige women's night wear would be nice too (I don't mind cartoons, I'm a big kid, but not pastel colours).

Sains had stripy, red robins, orange owls etc the other day, I could have bought loads for dts who are 9 but they only had them in small sizes in our local branch

StarBallBunny I agree with you about adult nightwear. I am currently wearing green pyjamas with watering cans on, from Tesco, and I bloody love them.

Oh Whizz I love Polarn o Pyret, but can't justify the cost at the moment. Especially not for pyjamas.

I've just bought nice owl PJs for my DD from Sainsburys. They are cream, orange, blue & green I think. Sure they had them in the smaller sizes. £12 for pack of 2.

I was going to suggest Sainsbury too. They seem to wash well but come up BIG for sizes....
