Watching channel 4, man with massive facial tattoo, is this a turn on? Takes up about 90% of his face?

I don't like tattoos at all.

But I guess people can do what they want to their own bodies.

A tattooed face is just as unattractive (to me) as those big holey earlobes.

NotYoMomma · 02/10/2013 10:10

neck and face tattoos make me think they are someone who clearly doesnt give a shit about employment. might not even be true but every single person I know with one (I live in a rough area) doesnt work and doesnt care

tattoos anywhere else - fine

miffybun73 · 02/10/2013 10:10

I don't like tattoos at all anywhere.

AKissIsNotAContract · 02/10/2013 10:23

I've got my eyebrows tattooed.

Norfolknway · 02/10/2013 10:28

No. The majority I see are badly done and on scruffy blokes.
Not my bag...at all

Gatekeeper · 02/10/2013 10:31

I don't like any tattoos never mind facial ones; I would cry if my son came home looking like that zombie bloke- he doesn't look human anymore

absentmindeddooooodles · 02/10/2013 10:35

Dont like facial tatyoos atall. Different if its a cultural thing, but personally dont find them attractive.
I like tattoos overall though, have 5 myself, but they are all in places that can be covered up and they all mean something to me.

Lazysuzanne · 02/10/2013 10:51

Clearly tattoos have not lost their power to evoke strong feelings in people!

Bunbaker · 02/10/2013 11:40

"I am one of those lefty liberal types that thinks passing judgement on people's appearances is simply not on"

In principal I agree with you, but it has been clearly demonstrated by the responses on here that it is human nature to make a judgement about someone on first sight. If everything thought the way you do we wouldn't need to have dress codes at work or guidelines about not having facial tattoos or piercings etc. But in the real world that isn't going to happen.

You would think I was boring, for example, because I don't dress in an attention seeking or flamboyant way. Nor do I seek to look like a "rebel". I don't have any tattoos or multiple piercings - just standard ear piercing, I have a boring hairstyle and just generally blend into the background, but that is fine by me.

Lazysuzanne · 02/10/2013 11:52

"it is human nature to make a judgement about someone on first sight"

I dont exactly disagree with you Bunbaker, but I would rephrase to

"it is human nature to respond to a persons appearance"

because, saying that people are judgemental sounds, well, it sounds judgemental :o

Sallystyle · 02/10/2013 12:18

No I don't like them on faces.

I have one on my ear lobe though. Get lots of compliments and I love it.

I would like to get rid of the two on my arm and just keep my ear one.

EldritchCleavage · 02/10/2013 12:49

We're always discussing tattoos on here! The 'Like' faction and the 'Don't Like' faction never persuade each other.

I find that, while there are lots of tattoos out there, there are very very few good tattoos out there. And lots of people who have got them frankly just seem to me to have very poor taste in tattoos. Up close they look silly (bad pictures, twee or vulgar messages, garish colours) and from a distance they look like mould.

There are exceptions of course. Maori tattoos are the nicest, to my mind.

Lazysuzanne · 02/10/2013 12:50

Mold!! :o

persimmon · 02/10/2013 12:54

I don't mind tattoos per se (not face, neck or forearms though) However, most tattoos seems to fade to an uninspiring non-colour fairly swiftly. Even black ones go a boring navy blue.

Slinkysista · 02/10/2013 13:08

I'd really wonder if someone was in their right mind if they had a tattoo on their face. Seriously why?
I don't like any tattoos to be honest but face and neck tattoos are a particular no no!
I just imagine that I'd get so sick of looking at it.
But each to their own and all that!

Lazysuzanne · 02/10/2013 13:18

Facial tattoos are clearly shocking and incomprehensible to many people!

willyoulistentome · 02/10/2013 14:01

Body tattoos are a not my cup of tea at all. Facial tattoos would make me seriously question the person's judgement. I mean if they are short sighted enough not to realise the impact that it has on others' opinion of you, and how that could limit your choices in life, and you don't realise or dont care at age 20 or 30, that you will almost certainly not still have the same taste at age 60, then you must be pretty stupid. It would make me think you were unintelligent. Not necessarily aggressive, but that you do not think things through and are prone to making bad decisions.

MirandaGoshawk · 02/10/2013 14:08

I don't know if the 'owners' of facial tattoos find them attractive exactly, but they are obviously attracted to having them for some reason. They appear to be a 'fuck you' to society, or a statement of aggression, but I realise that's a huge judgement and the person underneath the tattoo might be the biggest sweetie going. But we don't have the time to process what kind of person they are before clocking the tattoo, getting an instant impression and making an instant judgement.

Tattoos in general seem to be saying 'look at me' and I don't like them.

lljkk · 02/10/2013 14:08

don't they hurt like heck? I think these people must be very very tough to get so many and on sensitive places.

MirandaGoshawk · 02/10/2013 14:09

Maori tattoos excepted - belonging to a clan or tribe.

YoniBottsBumgina · 02/10/2013 14:22

I like this ear tattoo

I also think the man with the skull/brain tattoo above, that is interesting to look at and beautiful in an artistic way.

I would like to get a tattoo one day but I never keep the same idea for long enough.

Bunbaker · 02/10/2013 14:33

You're right Lazysuzanne. I caould have worded it better, but you obviously understand what I mean.

LessMissAbs · 02/10/2013 14:47

Not in the slightest, whether its facial or on any other part of the body. I associate it with any or all of low IQ, lack of individuality, hiding plainness and attention seeking - there is something bleurgh about grown men going to the trouble of getting squiggly patterns drawn on themselves.

If I was single and looking, I would turn a man down on the basis of him having a tattoo. I would just not go there

Famzilla Better not tell my boss, the mental health (dementia) ward manager with the masters degree and tattoo sleeve

Big deal. Some people with tattoos have good jobs. So what?

pinkyredrose · 02/10/2013 15:28

lessmiss could you possibly be any more judgemental or discriminatory?!

DaleyBump · 02/10/2013 15:35

Wow LessMiss. Such a shame that you'll miss out on getting to know some fantastic people based on the fact that they've got a little tattoo. Have you got your ears pierced?
