To think this should be illegal? (not at all light hearted and very, very serious)

Ok it might not be that serious.

Surely it has to be illegal to sell boxes of chocolates without a little guide with pictures telling you what each one is. Just got a posh box of chocs, list of fancy chocolate names on the outside, but no guide to which was which. So I unknowingly ate a coffee one, yuk, yuk, yuk. Surely there should be some kind of law to stop innocent people from accidentally eating the horror that is a coffee flavoured chocolate.

Right, back to my other first world problems now

Turkish Delight is horrible. I'm disappointed by the lack of mint based chicks in Roses and QS. I love mint chic.

runningonwillpower · 01/10/2013 23:30

Get this. My husband eats chocolates WITHOUT READING THE MENU. He just randomly picks them out of the box.

So, he quaffs coffee creams, orange creams and even strawberry creams without advance warning!

GeeTeeEff · 01/10/2013 23:30

My phone doesn't recognise chocs or chocolate apparently. Heathen!

CakeBotherer · 01/10/2013 23:36

Coffee are the best ones. So for that YABU.

However YANBU about there should be clear guide so that the coconut ones can be avoided.

MorvahRising · 01/10/2013 23:43

YANBU. There should definitely be a law.

Coffee ones are completely bleurrgghhh. So is anything involving marzipan, or coconut. And I loathe it when I bite into an innocent looking chocolate with a caramel filling and then find a horrible crunchy NUT in the middle. As a child I would spit it out at the first available opportunity.

still do

running I am appalled. your DH is showing an attitude towards risk that is frankly unacceptable. He will take your DC white water rafting next

LTB, obviously.

runningonwillpower · 02/10/2013 11:34

beastofburden - I would leave him but what would I do with the surplus of nasty chocolates?

The house would be overflowing with the buggers.

PeriodFeatures · 02/10/2013 11:36

FUCKING HELL op. THAT'S TERRIBLE. iT'S A VERITABLE HARD CARAMEL RUSSIAN ROULETTE....

PeriodFeatures · 02/10/2013 11:36

sorry nak x

MegaClutterSlut · 02/10/2013 11:44

YANBU I also want to complain about cadbury choccy boxes. why the hell do they put in minging horrible orange flavour?. It makes all the other chocs taste like shit orange too

dappledawn · 02/10/2013 11:45

Chocolates filled with coffee or turkish delight are my absolute favourites - please save them all for me! Has anyone else tried the Divine fair trade coffee chocolate bar, which I can only find in the Oxfam shop? I love it. Pralines though -- yukkkk.

Poledra · 02/10/2013 11:49

MY DH takes the map out the box and throws it away. He thinks it's funny.

I'd LTB, but he does buy me a half-kilo box of chocolate from the posh shop in town every Christmas and lets me eat them without sharing (they don't have a map but I've never had a bad experience with them in 10 years Grin).

And coffee chocs are lovely, BTW.

RandallPinkFloyd · 02/10/2013 11:59

I couldn't live with a chocolate maverick.

DuckToWater · 02/10/2013 12:02

I never look at the 'chocolate menu' and just choose one I think looks nice. Unless it contains fruit fondant or liqueurs I will probably like it. If I don't like it, I just swallow it and don't have another. DH on the other hand studies the menu for a few minutes.

DuckToWater · 02/10/2013 12:03

I also like Revels. All of them.

Rooners · 02/10/2013 12:06

No OP you're meant to GUESS by the little design on the top, don't you know? Smile

Squiggly thing almost always means it's got a nut of some kind in it.

Leaves and cherries is, clearly, cherry something

you get the idea

ginslinger · 02/10/2013 12:07

orange Revels - Satan's shit.

Beastofburden · 02/10/2013 13:08

Harsh, gin.

I don't like ones with alcohol in as I am worried I can only have one on top of my evening wine or I will get a headache Sad

FrussoNeedsMoreSleep · 02/10/2013 13:12

list of fancy chocolate names on the outside now you really should have checked first if you were going to be playing Russian roulette

thegreylady · 02/10/2013 13:15

My favoutite Roses are Strawberry and the new Coffee Escape which isn't as yummy as the original coffee creme but still lovely. I always have a box of Whittakers dark chocolate coffee cremes at Christmas :)

pixiepotter · 02/10/2013 13:15

I feel your pain.Coffee chocolates are a cruel, cruel thing.
