To think this should be illegal? (not at all light hearted and very, very serious)

Ok it might not be that serious.

Surely it has to be illegal to sell boxes of chocolates without a little guide with pictures telling you what each one is. Just got a posh box of chocs, list of fancy chocolate names on the outside, but no guide to which was which. So I unknowingly ate a coffee one, yuk, yuk, yuk. Surely there should be some kind of law to stop innocent people from accidentally eating the horror that is a coffee flavoured chocolate.

Right, back to my other first world problems now

A wispa bar dunked in coffee is my favourite.

Heartbrokenmum73 · 01/10/2013 20:48

My brother was given a box of Roses at work last week (hence my knowledge of the new varieties - there's a truffle that's nice too) and my parents sat and had a discussion about which one was the coconut. Dad 'it's the blue one'. Me 'no, that's Quality Street, there's no coconut in Roses'. Mum (completely ignoring me) 'I thought it was the blue one but it's not on the sheet'. Me 'that's because the blue one in ROSES is a caramel, a toffee, coconut is the blue one in QUALITY STREET'. Dad 'are you sure it's not the blue one?'. Me 'why not effing try an effing blue one and effing see if it's effing coconut or effing toffee!!!!'. The last bit was actually a lot more polite but I really felt like saying it.

Heartbrokenmum73 · 01/10/2013 20:50

Wow, my laptop obviously loved my story so much it decided to post it twice, with someone else's comment sandwiched between repeats for emphasis!

BOF · 01/10/2013 20:50

I never understood that Forrest Gump pearl of wisdom. You DO know what you're going to get, because they are supposed to have a card with a guide to what's what.

OP, I sympathise- people who like coffee chocolate are a bit evil and not to be trusted.

Heartbrokenmum73 · 01/10/2013 20:51

Twirls moustache and laughs in an evil manner before tying BOF to rail tracks

pianodoodle · 01/10/2013 20:51

A wispa bar dunked in coffee is my favourite

My mum used to get a Spira bar and suck her coffee through it Grin

Don't know if you still get them. Like Twirls but hollow in the middle :)

Titsalinabumsquash · 01/10/2013 20:52

Coffee in anything other than the actual drink should be outlawed, this also applies to people that ruin perfectly good chocolate with Orange and don't even get me started on Turkish Delight Hmm

Strawberry Creme is the way forward and I will happily fight anyone who tries to take one.

Binkyridesagain · 01/10/2013 20:52

BOF you are correct. My DH likes the coffee ones, he also likes marmite, the man is sick!

BlissfullyIgnorant · 01/10/2013 20:53
  1. Coffee chocolate - BOAK!
  2. Sympathy ThanksWine
  3. At least it wasn't chocolate gingers
  4. In Chicago one can purchase chocolate bacon! Again, BOAK!
  5. Have you considered writing to HM the Queen? She can raise it directly with the Privy Council and have a law passed to ban the abomination.
Titsalinabumsquash · 01/10/2013 20:53

Marmite is the good of gods.

Xmasbaby11 · 01/10/2013 20:55

YANBU. The anticipation is half the delight.

Xmasbaby11 · 01/10/2013 20:55

I remember Spira! Yum.

SummerRain · 01/10/2013 20:57

Just as bad are the boxes that print the list on the bottom of the box so you have to hold the box over your head to read it Confused

I love the coffee ones but the fruit creams make me gag... I revert to a 3 year olds mentality and spit them out Blush

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 01/10/2013 20:57

mmmm Marmite.

Thank god i have just sat down with food.

I once had a deep fried mars bar and it was the food of the devil :)

thegraduand · 01/10/2013 20:58

I am seriously considering writing to the Queen, Cameron and maybe starting a twitter campaign, I just need a good hashtag, any good ideas? I'm thinking #coffeechocshock or #nochocshock

Do you think we could get all the coffeechoco lovers banished to an island?

thegraduand · 01/10/2013 20:59

Looks like there are a few people here I could split a tin of Roses with. Maybe that could be a new mums net swap thread, swap the left over chocs

YADNBU!

Coffee creams, along with their evil siblings, orange and strawberry creams, belong in the seventh circle of hello. This is deadly serious and requires immediate action! Grin

thegraduand · 01/10/2013 21:00

Binky I'm with you.

OP posts:
Madamecastafiore · 01/10/2013 21:00

I would insist on a guide to avoid the strawberry and orange ones, Bleugh!!!

RandallPinkFloyd · 01/10/2013 21:01

You absolutely cannot navigate a box of chocolates without the map. Just not possible. Coffee cream? Unacceptable risk in my book.

Every single Christmas afternoon as a child had a constant soundtrack of "well, where's the map?", "have you still got the map?", "who's got the map now?", "for god's sake why won't people put the map back in the box after they've taken one"

Binkyridesagain · 01/10/2013 21:01

You start the campaign and I'll back you.

changeforthebetter · 01/10/2013 21:01

or even seventh circle of hell! stupid phone Angry

olibeansmummy · 01/10/2013 21:02

Coffee cremes are back in Roses?!?!?!?! Seriously thus has made my whole life! heads out to shop

thegraduand · 01/10/2013 21:02

We should start to name and shame the purveyors of such dangerous boxes of chocolates, start a boycott list
