AIBU to say Breaking Bad is one of the best TV series ever?

I loved it.

The cast, the script, the acting (except Lydia) everything.

In RL that is.

Can't wait to see Better Call Saul. though I hope I amn't building it up too much

Homeland is good but if it had ended at the end of series one it would have been amazing.

A perfect ending. I've had a BB NN for a while now. Saul, Jesse and sinister Mike were my standouts. The script and acting were outstanding. I hope Gilligan does something good next.

The final episode was some of the best tv I've ever seen.

If anyone is searching for something to replace Breaking Bad, I recommend Sons of Anarchy. Amazing, gripping tv that got us through the mid-season hiatus of BB and then some. We now love it as much as Breaking Bad - maybe more!

We're on to The Wire now, just nearing the end of season one, and it's great but it's hard work. No subtitles on the downloaded episodes so just working out what the hell people are saying is a nightmare, never mind keeping tabs on who's who! I have to read Wikipedia's episode guide after each one to get it straight in my head before the next - I understand 50% of each episode at most.

I've bought series two on DVD so at least I'll be able to get subtitles for that. I feel like I need to get a study guide for it, like we used to have at school for learning Shakespeare so we knew what on earth was happening!

I wouldn't recommend House as something to watch back to back, it will get boring. Season 1, was one story a week and the long running small soapy part wasn't gripping. It is a good quality programme and Hugh Laurie is great. I'd slip an episode in now and then between other programmes.

The Wire has lots of good reviews. I kept getting disturbed while I was watching it, I didn't even manage a whole episode in one sitting so stopped after a few episodes, but I'm going to give it another go.

The Mentalist looks interesting. I might try that next with the Wire.

RiffyWammal, Sons of Anarchy is another one I've been thinking about trying.

I'm in mourning now Breaking Bad is over and am so jealous of all the posters who are just starting out watching. I could wax lyrical but there would probably be spoilers so I'll just say that it is one of the best tv shows ever. I can't remember being this moved and emotionally involved since Six Feet Under.

The wire and sopranos were my favourites but BB is definitely the best ever show.
Two weeks until walking dead is back on, not sure what to watch until then...

Consistently brilliant, every single episode. Love Sons of Anarchy too, it keeps getting better.

Deadwood is definitely worth a look, though it was cancelled after 2 or 3 seasons. Timothy Olyphant is hot as hell as the sheriff and the whole cast is great.

Justified is good too - some great acting and more of the divine Timothy Olyphant.

I'm not sure Mentalist should be your next move - its a bit like CSI in that its police procedural with a new case each episode with a limited amount of longer story arc progression. Not all that.

On a lot if articles about breaking bad the comments say its brilliant but not quite as brilliant as the sopranos. I have tried to get in to the sopranos but it just seems so dated. I think part of it as well is I can't see Edie Falco as anyone other than Nurse Jackie, which I recommend if you haven't seen it.

Nurse Jackie is amazing - highly recommend.

Have to say the storyline and characters don't really appeal to me, neither did the Sopranos or The Wire or Lost or Ally McBeal or Sex in the City ot Desperate Housewives or several others which were extremely popular. I watched 24 for a bit but gave up as I found it annoying and manipulative, also Prison Break -gave up on that as the story was being unduly strung out.

I may give it a go (I did try with all the others I mentioned) but I wouldn't hold out much hope.

Breaking Bad broke every mould in television history IMO. I'm not one to get geeky and over obsessive about tv shows normally, but I can barely express how much BB has moved, thrilled and delighted me.

There can never be another. But it's so wonderful to know that this level of talent, originality, creative energy and sheer bravery exists in the world. Christ, when you look at the top rated shows world wide. Most of them are money making singing competitions. And then this... it never once did not astonish me.

My attitudes changed with each episode. I never, ever knew what was going to happen next. Nobody got naked for no reason. There was no tedious 'sexual tension' that wasn't totally relevant to the plot. IFT!!!

The last few episodes were so hard to watch because I was so invested in those people and situations. I won't plot spoil on here but even the very ending was characteristically sublime and challenging.

It wasn't perfect. There was some miscasting IMO, and a few misfiring subplots etc. But as a whole, this was the best television ever made and I think history will agree until somebody somewhere has the vision to make more stuff like this.

Tessa that's exactly how I felt - nothing has involved me like that since Six Feet Under.

I don't know anyone near me who watches it!!!! I've watched it from the start when it aired on FX, saw the trailer when I was watching Dex, another fave. (Though I have the last few episodes to watch of that. )

Then I started buying the box sets from Amazon USA CIA it stopped showing. DH and I were hooked from the start. I think one of my fave scenes was when the avid in the bath dissolved right through the ceiling! Shocking but strangely funny too! And the clearing up!

Yeah, to me there is nothing to touch it. I don't have Netflix but I'm waiting for the last half to come out on box set in November. Will be watching it all the way from the beginning again after that.

Every episode just got better and better. I loved Prison Break and I also love The Mentalist. But BB is just a work of sheer genius from all involved. I've just ordered all sorts of merchandise online eg mug, phone cover, car sticker etc. obsessed much?

Just wish I had a text buddy for watching it like I did for Prison Break and Lost! ( though I hated hated hated the endings of both of them. Hoping Patrick Jane doesn't let me down).
