To not feed my dog

when it's an hour before his dinnertime?

He stood there, looking at me. And when I looked up at him, he whined. And did a little dance. I got up to check on the soup, and he started howling in joy because, well, food. Except when I sat down again (sans food) he looked at me with big, sad brown eyes like I was the cruelest person in the world. I'm sure he felt I was starving him.

AIBU for not feed my dog, or is he BU for looking pathetic and adorable to try and get his dinner early?

If you were hungry an hour before you usually are, would you cook dinner early? I know I would....

Why is he so hungry an hour early? Maybe he's run round with the kids all day or you're not giving him enough breakfast to last him until dinner time?
Maybe he can't tell the time.

Our dog was just like this, she would look at you with a sad, pleading expression. It usually worked on me! Mind she was a Labrador and food was the most important thing to her!

He is a dog. He is perpetually hungry. If I left the 15kg bag of food out for him, he'd eat it all and still want more.

If I feed him an hour early today, it'll be an hour and a half tomorrow, then two hours...and he'll start howling for breakfast at 5 in the morning.

I have to call the dog to let him know his dinner is out. He will come and look and then walk off.

I love that the more loved and cared for a dog is, the more they act like they're neglected, starved and deprived of attention! The way my boy falls for anyone who says he's cute it's like he doesn't spend all evening in my lap and we don't great him with " hello handsome" when we get home!

My cats are the same. They start harassing me about two hours before their feeding time.

Only once has my husband fallen for their meowling and fed them a second time.

My dog follows me to the kitchen and stares hopefully when I open the fridge for milk for my tea. Even 2 minutes after I have fed him. Sometimes he even stops eating his dinner to stand beside me when I open the fridge.

He just likes food. Plus he views me as a walking, talking food provider. Clearly its my only job, feeding the dog. Hmm

My cats do this. I went to the bathroom at 3am the other and I found them meowing by their foodbowls like they'd not been fed in a week!

My dog has started asking for his food at 5.20pm when he is normally fed at 6pm. I put it down to the colder weather coming!

Feed the poor thing, he's obviously hungry.

I just opened a tin of tuna for dinner. The cat couldn't get downstairs fast enough and the dog is sitting, silently begging beside the table. Both have food in their bowls. (And neither is getting any tuna, that stuff aint cheap).

Oops - pressed send too soon! Their house their rules! And I say that as someone who has just had to eat pizza stood up in the kitchen so that my cats don't steal it! Grin

My cat has his dinner at about 5 pm.
At about 8.30 pm he then takes up a sitting in front of me position glancing towards the kitchen for a few biscuits for supper. If I try to ignore him (but of course he knows that I know what he is up to) he starts rubbing against my foot or leg.
He's so predictable and so persuasive that he always gets his few biscuits.

our very old and very fat cat meows at each of us in turn, me dh and 4 dcs to be fed by each one. he just doesn't give up and if you out him out he will climb outside the window of any room you are in and silently meow through the glass.

he is in charge and we know our place.

My dog (Labrador) whines and stares at me pointedly for about an hour before tea time. You would think she was starved but in reality we feed her three times a day. She is what you might call a greedy bitch Grin.

My fucking dog scratches the sofa when he's hungry. We've finally nipped the behaviour in the bud by giving him dinner at 5.30. He whines for more at 10 pm but I ignore him, it's hard though. He wolfs down breakfast and then looks at me as if to say "you've been starving me woman, it's been hours since I last ate".
