Here They missed an opportunity to send a really jokey reply. Sad

Oh. Maybe not then. Grin

Bunnygotwhacked · 28/09/2013 21:49

well it is clearly a car and they do state any car in their marketing hmm trading standards methinks Grin

Goldmandra · 28/09/2013 21:50

I think they missed a trick big time.

With a little imagination this could have gained them some really good free publicity.

Sparklingbrook · 28/09/2013 21:51

That's what I thought. They would have been better binning it than replying with that humourless letter.

They should have played on it a bit.

slightlysoupstained · 28/09/2013 21:51

Yep. They just sound massively grumpy and up themselves.

puntasticusername · 28/09/2013 21:51

I saw that the originator admitted it was a hoax, he made it up himself...but if not, yes, definitely a poor customer service response!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 28/09/2013 21:51

What miserable gits!

They should have turned to MN! Someone here not me could have come up with a witty, pithy replyGrin

FesterAddams · 28/09/2013 22:00

Agree that they missed an opportunity. Even the Department for Transport has a better sense of humour:
blog.bigjigstoys.co.uk/our-wcml-bid-has-been-accepted-almost/

Sparklingbrook · 28/09/2013 22:02

That's more like it Fester. Grin

Sense of humour bypass.

Mojavewonderer · 28/09/2013 22:07

What boring old farts 'we buy any car' are!

ThisIsMyRealName · 28/09/2013 22:10

miserable bastards!
Although, to be fair i'd be amazed if they haven't seen that joke before. Maybe someone was having a bad day...

hermioneweasley · 28/09/2013 22:11

Agreed! Should have offers 50p or something. Massively missed opportunity.

Though we are talking about it...

queenebay · 28/09/2013 22:13

That's funny. Wasn't there a similar one with a gold company when some one sent in chocolate coins!

AKissIsNotAContract · 28/09/2013 22:19

This spoof is pretty funny: www.webuyanycat.com/

Growlithe · 28/09/2013 22:20

Tell you what though, we've got one of those Little Tykes cars. It was second hand when we got it, and it's lasted longer than any real car we've bought.

Can't seem to find a child who hasn't already got one to pass it on. Grin

AnaisHendricks · 28/09/2013 22:22

YANBU, the joyless bastards.

I'd have loved to compose a funny reply and would have spent all weekend doing it given the chance. Opportunity Fail.

Sparklingbrook · 28/09/2013 22:28

We are talking about it, BUT We buy any car isn't all that is it? I assume they give you a good price on the website, then you take your car in and they pick loads of faults in the paintwork and offer you £3 for it?

Love We buy any cat AKiss Grin

Chippednailvarnish · 28/09/2013 22:53

I think you should contact the daily fail and complain. You could even do the whole "sad / angry / disappointed" face in the photoshoot, whilst posing with your car...

chateauferret · 29/09/2013 08:19

Well their ads are terminally irritating and that reply isn't just humourless, it's passive-aggressive nasty. I wouldn't do business with people like that.

colleysmill · 29/09/2013 08:31

Just out of curiosity (its not actually for sale) I put our very very old car's registration number in on the website (its got a black number plate) and they wouldn't recognise that either!

Sparklingbrook · 29/09/2013 10:23

Ha! So their name is a lie colley. Just as we thought.

OP posts:
MardyBra · 29/09/2013 10:26

Love the link fester.

MardyBra · 29/09/2013 10:27

Sainsburys managed it with the giraffe bread

colleysmill · 29/09/2013 11:15

sparkling they should change it to "we might buy any car - unless its so old it has passed its sell by date"
